What to look for on the walkthrough?

I'm picking my new Z06 up Saturday at the dealership. They are hauling it in from another city.

I'm looking for suggestions on items to look for on the car when I pick it up.

Thanks.

Get down on your hands and knees, and examine the underside of the lower sill panels on both sides. look for cracks and scraping damage...

Swirls scratches in the paint

Wheel damage, scratches, curbing etc...

Interior punctures, scrapes, etc.....

Owners manual is complete with Z06 pen & tire gauge

Take your time, and don't let them rush you......

Good luck

See my previous replies to other threads on same subject.

Take a mirror to inspect undercarriage, if no lift available.

Do not accept after dark.

Take someone with you who can be objective.

Good luck.

Make sure you look at the car inside under fluorescent lights and not outdoor in the sun. Otherwise, you will not be able to see paint scratches and defects. Take a portable halogen light with you if you have one.

Look over each wheel for defects in the finish, especially on the rim for curb rash.

Look under the car everywhere. Rocker panels, front air dam, etc. for shipping damage.

Check the engine compartment for proper fluid levels.

Check the inside for any interior damage.

Check that the trunk opens and closes properly.

Check to make sure that the rubber moulding around the windows is correct alignment.

Check the mileage to make sure it matches what is on the paper work, and if it has excessive miles, anything over 10 miles ask why and walk away. Someone has been driving it if it does.

Start motor and listen carefully. Make sure it will go into each gear. Ask to drive it before accepting delivery as well.

Do not accept delivery if it does not meet your standards. There are other cars on the market if this one does not.

My next will be an NCM delivery which will hopefully eliminate most of the shipping damage that happens.

I would insist on a print out of the alignment specs for your new car!

The good news and bad news is that even with the specs right on there can be abnormal wear patterns, most common being front inside tread wear. (PREMATURE replacement of one to 4 tires: max cost 1400!!??) Then at some point you can research the forum for what all those numbers mean in English! And how they all work together and affect/effect each other!
