What is your tire pressure?

Hello,
Curious to see what tire pressure setting other Z06 owners and drivers use for various driving scenarios with their stock tires. I typically run mine @ 30lbs for every day driving.

Thanks,

30psi is the spec., as displayed on the tire placard. This, of course, is for your everyday street/highway/freeway driving. I'm sure other pressures are more suitable for the track.

30psi for everyday. 38psi for instructional driving at Summit Point Raceway. 40psi front, 22-24psi rear for fun time at the strip!

Whatever your tire pressure, a good procedure to remember is that given a plus or minus 10 degrees temperature at fill up, that the PSI varies app 1 PSI. So if you are like most folks and check the tire pressure once a month, and say you filled it to 30 PSI when it was 85 degrees out and today it is 55 degrees out, chances are you are at least 3 PSI UNDER.

I run 30-33PSI on the street.

Thanks for the replies.

I check my tire pressure year-round when the tires are "cold". Cold being relevant to the seasonal temperature.

So if I understand your above post, your definition can have two meanings: 1. you measure tire pressure "cold" or not having been run 2. you measure tire pressure on the cold or colder days.

The other thing is that operating temperatures adds 3-4 PSI in all but the most extreme circumstances.

Again using a temperature constant after running if it measures 34 PSI then probably the cold PSI is 30-31 PSI.

So for another example, in a typical desert environment that can go from 40 degrees to 105 degrees you have a 65 degree or 6.5 #'s of variation.

You're right. You obviously didn't understand my response or else you have nothing better to do than scrutinize the semantics and syntax of another member's post. Geez...you're a fair example of why I rarely post on this, or any other forum anymore. Duh, yeah, like, uh I only measure my tire pressure once a year on cold, winter-like days. Gimme a break!

02BlueZ06

BTW, there are no deserts in North Carolina, but I'm glad I have your reference in the event I ever am.

And you are a real fine example of why it is good to clarify things. You may understand what you think you meant to say . But sir, you surely did not get it across! What did come across is the lack of manners.

Thanks to RPOZ06, I can now check my tire pressure while on the road. We installed air pressure sensors and reprogrammed the DIC! Why Z06's come without this is beyond me.

A good question indeed, Zoomin.

My first thought would be that it's more important to monitor pressure with the run flats because a flat is difficult to detect. That said, I certainly can't explain why they didn't program it to work in our cars with "conventional" tires The only added cost would be the 4 sensors. Do you think the weight of the sensors was the primary reason they decided not to include this feature?? Could be, I guess.

Charlie

They weigh slightly over an ounce, so I don't think that's it. If it is, then they were certainly scrimping.

Sensors incompatible with goo

I think the sensor goes into the valve-stem and is imcompatible with fix-the-tire goo we get.
