Whistle sound on startup?

Hi.

As you probably know, I have a new '03 that I picked up last week. I went for a ride the other day when the roads were clear and noticed when I started the car, it made a whistling noise at idle. Is this normal? I don't seem to remember this noise when I went and test drove the car?

BTW.. I live in the Chicago area and I'm wondering if it's a cold start thing because it doesn't seem to do it when the car is warmed up. Also, the test car that I drove was rolled right out of a heated showroom, so that's why I'm thinking it might be a cold start thing.

TIA,

Bob

Bob,

I get this too from time to time, mostly at idle, or going slowly in reverse or at low RPM's. Didn't have it for the first feww hundred mile and then I got the Whistle. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about but I'm not sure what is actually causing it.

I decided not to worry about it and just enjoy the stupid grin I get when I run this thing

Maybe someone can you give you a technical expalanation for the sound but I beleive there are many '03 that have the whistle sound.

Whistling, huh.....See, you guys are lucky. The factory probably slipped up and mounted a supercharger in there and forgot to mention it.
Just think of how much money you saved on an aftermarket blower

Yup I had a whistle all the time when the car was new and first started. It still occurs on occasion but not very often. I first suspected a vacuum leak. I have read other posts on this but have not found the source of the noise.

It's like Whooooo Whooooooo! People like Bubb Rubb should be shot IMO.

I need to take my car in tomorrow to have the BSM's removed, so I'll ask the service guy about the whistle noise on cold startup. If my son slipped that Bubb Rubb thing on my car when I wasn't looking, I'm going to be pissed.
