Why would you refer a member to a dealer that is NOT a supporting dealer of this foru
Forgive me Frank and all Mods for posting this on the Grandstand but I think it is important to this Forum and its members.
I keep seeing over and over where members of this Forum are referring other members to a dealer that does not support this Forum. We have 4 very fine dealers that support this forum with their money and their time yet for some reason some of you continue to refer them elsewhere. I have to believe that one of the supporting dealer here will be able to help any member with their purchase. Will we get every deal, probably not but we deserve the shot at it before they are referred to someone else. Rather you agree with it or not supporting vendors are essential to the survival of this Forum. Without them this Forum would cease to be here. Please if you feel that you must refer someone elsewhere, do it by PM or by email. There have been hundreds of members who have purchased from one of the supporting dealers here. Please allow us to continue to do our job and support this Forum and not drive the business elsewhere.
Rick
Only seems fair to me. I would hope that everyone would give you guys first crack at the sale EVERYTIME, I'm sorry to hear that is not happening and worse yet they're posting a connection elsewhere.
Doc
I didn't know about the forum when I bought my Z but wouldn't it be fair to think that location has something to do with it? Just speaking for myself...I couldn't travel somewhere to buy a car and it is way easier to get one locally. Do supporting dealers deliver? If so, I would have never guessed that. Another issue is trade-ins. How do you handle trade-ins for someone that is not local that can't drive to the dealer?
I would assume they've already tried you and are seeing if there is a better deal. I do agree with you that this should always be handled via IM or email though.
We'll be picking up our 2003 Z06 later this month and then I'll begin my search for the best deal on a 2003 Triple Black convertible. Interested in bidding?
Vett, I traded in my '01 Z to Maxie sight unseen and they gave me great money for it. They just walked out to verify milage when I got there and that was it. My salesperson said they could have my trade shipped in and my new car shipped back to me but I got a deal I had to jump on (end of the month) and drove up to make the exchange. Otherwise, I would have gone with delivery for a little more money.
Guys this is not to gain business for just me. It is to try and help all of the supporting dealers here. Their is no reason why all members cant do business with one of the supporting dealers here. The deals that are offered by us are as compeitive as they come. We ship cars all over the country. Trades are no problem ether. Just give us a try before you look or ask someone else to look elsewhere.
Rick: You may have had my note to David under "Texas Roads" in mind when you wrote your complaint above. If so, I respectfully disagree with you.
I have noted that the dealers on this forum, when talking about discounts off of MSRP, have been saying things like "don't ask for $5000 off - not going to happen". I know that was the case for me personally just a few weeks ago (May 10), when I noted postings exactly like that on this site.
At the same time, the newspaper ads in Austin, Tx and Dallas, TX both have DISPLAY ads by Chevrolet dealers offering discounts of up to $7000 on new convertibles and coupes, and at least a few ads that have displayed in very large print $4500 discounts on new Z06s. This is in a public display newspaper ad without any "negotiation" required! And, there's no travel or delivery issues - which also add real cost - to worry about.
All of a sudden, a sponsoring dealer's attitude looks a little self-serving, as in "don't tell people when a local dealer might be a lot lower than me".
I don't think anyone expects a sponsoring dealer to "give" cars away. But, we do expect that because your cost of making a sale is significantly lower when selling to us (presold & inclined to do business with a site sponsor) versus someone off the street, we should at least NOT get a HIGHER price.
When a local Dallas dealer ran a display ad offering almost $4000 off the specific car I wanted, plus the GMAC financing deal, I went for it.
If I'm off base in any way, don't hesitate to tell me so.

I certainly understand your viewpoint, Rick, but there could be a number of reasons why someone would refer a potential buyer to a non-supporting dealer ... a good previous buying experience, a good price, good service, location, etc. I think the bottom line is that we tend to have more allegiance to the other members than to the supporting dealers. Just my $.02.

Ready to embrace the aging process, but I can't lift my arms.
The Forum vendors are not by any means the only good dealers out there. If you have a good dealer that you know, rather than give them free advertisement ask them to support the Forum.
Let me put this another way.
If you enjoy this Forum as much as I do everyone needs to be aware of the fact that if the vendors are not getting a reasonable return on their support of this Forum you run the risk of losing some of them. We already have lost some. No vendors NO Forum.
All I ask is if again you feel you need to refer someone elsewhere just do it by PM or email.

See for your self.
These posts are end of year blowouts. Most every dealer is dumping 2002s for greatly reduced prices. If one of them fits what you're looking for - great. I'm not willing to settle for less than what I want or "make do".
When we were shopping for a 2003 in May I did contact the forum vendors. (Too be fair to you, you were not at Maxie at the time.) Since it was basically pre-season few dealers would talk anything less than MSRP for a 2003 and that included Maxie Price.
I asked you above if you were interested in giving me a price on a 2003 Triple Black convertible. There has been no IM or email. Did you think I wasn't serious? Well, I am. My specifications are: Black exterior, black interior, black top, 1SB, G92, DD0, AAB, Z51 and, if available, F55. It will be a cash deal and since I am less than impressed with the Chev dealer in Reno I'd probably come pick it up.

While we are at this. All of the post referring to Anthony as the one above are his problem. None of them came from Me.
