Just had the windshield in my 03 Z06 replaced thanks to a big rig with out mud flaps. The glass company made a complete mess out of a mint condition car including cutting both A pillars, tearing my headliner and both window
weather stips, and worst of all slipping with the cold knife and cutting through the fiberglass on my drivers door. After a closer inspection of the nighmare job they did I noticed that the windshield does not fit tightly against the dash like the original one did. I know that they used factory AP Tech glass, but is it possible that the used the wrong one. I dont have the factory part # and am not sure how to tell if the glass is right. Any help is greatly appreciated
Yeah that is what I was thinkin. Just want to have all my facts straight before I do. The worst part is that they are saying that the damage was already there. I know every square inch of that car and it was perfect when they got it.
Do you know how I can tell if the used the correct glass or not. I have been told that there is a difference between the Z glass and the coupe. It just does not look like it fits properly I can see the mark where the original glass use to sit on the dash now I have about a 1 inch gap between the dash and windshield you can even see the under dash support metal.

This is correct- your car uses a Z06-specific windshield (for less weight and for the HUD). You should be able to find part numbers using the search feature. Good luck and sorry to hear about the trouble.
The Z glass is thinner for weight reasons as mentioned. The dimensions are the same though. How does your HUD work, there is a difference in a HUD and a non HUD windshield?

The windshield does say HUD in the bottom right hand corner and does seem to be working well.
Well first off for those of you who live in the S.Florida area the comany that so called repaired my car was J&S glass. I contacted them again today to let them know that I was no happy with the repairs and that I was holding them responsible for the damage. They told me that they would replace the A pillars and nothing else. The only good thing about this whole nightmare is that I did not pay any money out of pocket (State Farm comprehensive). I contacted State Farm today and informed them of what happened they opened a new claim for the damage caused by the glass co. and are going to send a claims adjuster out to investigate the concern. They will then determine the course of action. I went to the GM dealer today and got a parts list of what is needed and an estimate for the door repair, total with the correct windshield was just over 4000.00. Also looked at a couple of used Z's on the lot and all the windshields are stamped with 4.8mm on lower right hand side. Glass that was installed on my car says nothing about thichness. I am assuming that it is the wrong glass
This is a picture of the windshield in my 02 Z. I think the picture may be in one of those other threads too. It sounds like they butchered your car with their hack installation. I would not be a happy camper at all. Glad to hear SF is going to bat for you. It should not be this way. Hopefully SF will be able to get their money from the window installers.
