Worst Ticket Ever!!

ok , here's what happened:
decided to open up on the only straight, long stretch of road in my city. nothing in front of me but open road, so I thought. I got up to about 80 then let up as I approached some orange cones set up in a road work area. No road hazzards or ditches, but just cones set up temporarily to show lane designations until road paint stripes were put down. Anyway, out from the side of the road jumps a uniformed officer on foot with his finger pointing straight at me, and looking pissed off!!
He points to the side of the road with serious attitude!! I wasn't in the mood to deal with any attitude this day so I decided to blow right by the cop. I don't reccomend that anyone do this, BIG MISTAKE!!!!! SO, in my rearview mirror I see the cop go for his radio on his shoulder and I, unfortunately, end up catching a red light for what seemed to be an eternity!! the light turns green and I'm off, looking for any side street to get off this main drag. Before you know it, here's an unmarked cruiser right behind me with lights blazing. I decide to stop this time. This cop takes my liscense and regis. and tells me to follow him back to the cop working the road detail that I blew past. This is when the fun starts. I get tag team attitude from both of them, young guns fresh out of training. I eat it all up and end up with just a ticket with a heavy fine, but no arrest. WOOO WOOO But wait, there's more. I get home and check out the ticket I received and noticed that the officer wrote the wrong month and wrong posted speed limit on the ticket. I figure no problem to fight this ticket, the cop is on drugs or something. But 5 days later, here comes a letter from the registry saying that my liscense is about to be suspended for non payment on the ticket I just received. It turns out that when the cop wrote down the wrong month on the ticket, the registry looks at it as an old ticket that was never paid. Try telling the registry that the cop wrote the wrong date on your ticket. They don't buy that one at all. I had to go back to the cop who wrote the ticket, yes, back to him and ask him to change the date to the correct date. This was sooooo not fun!!!! He called me an A-hole to start off with, and then got pissy. Any way, he did issue me a new ticket with the correct date. this stopped the registry from suspending my liscense, but what the cop didn't do was void the old ticket. He just wrote another version of the same original ticket. Cool, two tickets with major fines on them!!! To make a long story short, I highly recommend stopping for the police when called for. Just look at the chases you see on the COPS show. No one ever gets away. that's just in the movies. LOL

The saying "You can't outrun Motorola" comes to mind. Consider yourself VERY lucky.

I was crusing last Friday and decided to give it a little blast!! I was pulling onto I-370 from I-270 here in St. Louis, very cool wide ride with lite traffic. Dan Farmer is familiar with that stretch!!

Down shifted to 3rd gear at 65 MPH and started to let her rip.....cop sitting at the bottom of the onramp!! WHOA!! Hit brakes and cruise by slowly!! Lucky day for me!! PRTs were blasting!!

Sounds like you got had! Can't help but suspect that it would have gone a lot smoother if you had stopped! :lo:

Great story and a lesson well learned. Thanks for sharing.

Lucky for you, you don't live in 'Dukes Of Loudoun County, VA'. Just moron meter maids passing out tickets while the neighboring cities have increased crime and school issues.... Is sad really.

The sheriff was quoted stating he'll have to pull cops out of the schools if the state cuts funds. Mmm, I'll remember that watching them over at the Circle K or running radar on the 45 mph road- stated at 35.

Ahhh but you can outrun Motorola.

A dude I know back in CA works for the CHP... He was telling us one day about this guy on a bike that was fucking with them.

Came up beside the cruiser, flipped em off, wheelied the bike for awhile, and took off. Then flipped a Uturn and took off in the other direction.

Then he'd stop, wait for them to catch up, then blast off again. Aparently this lasted a good while, until he got bored or something, got on the freeway (rush hour traffic) and split lanes and blew them out his ass.

Took serious balls, and the right set of circumstances (plus a fast bike), but it can be done.

Now that guy had it all going for him, Stupidity, fast bike, and tremendous amount of luck, in that order. I'm surprised the LAPD Air Section didn't jump on this and follow him, a fast bike will outrun a helicopter, but the visibility from 500 ft AGL or above gives the police the edge, that combined with FLIR and it becomes very difficult for a warm body to hide.
Usually people who flaunt the law(s) get away with it a few times, maybe even quite often, but eventually they get more and more bold because they do get away with it. Then when they do get caught, they have really crossed over the line because of their increased boldness, and are then in heap-much- trouble.
People like that then want to know why the Police are picking on them..... it's called responsibility.
Rant... Rant... Rant..... sorrry for that but that's my thought for this morning.

PS: That's not to say that we (myself included) don't ever do what amounts to dumb things once in a while, it's just that most of us do it only, once in a while; we normally don't make it a habit, or allow it to escalate into something that endangers others.

I love picking up local cops on our streets with the V1....all the streets around my house are 20 mph no tolerance and they will sit right by my house. so when i pick them up on the V1 i go by at like 15. just to make a small point....you cant get me with my V1.

You should have gotten an attorney. That was ground for an immediate dismissal. There are all sorts of things they screwed up here. For about $80 most attoneys would have made this disappear.

I heard a story one time about a guy cruising on the turnpike and saying to his wife, Honey how much we got in the check book?
The wife says, were OK go for it! No ones on the road. He says.
OK here we go 100, 120, 150, 170, I weaving in out of traffic! (What's wrong with this story)
Then he said he got a ticket going 180mph or 170 I don't remember.

I'm thinking, wow how true can this story be. The guy has a tune-port - injection sticker on a C5.

I tried to outrun a cop about eight years ago. I was traveling east on a two lane, and he west. I saw him hit his lights, so I accelerated to get to the next exit-then took off right. It didn't take him very long to catch me-I was in a Honda. He was very pissed and wrote me several tickets.

Not one of my brighter moments.........

the ticket number he issued you that day would not correspond to a ticket that was issued say 2 or 3 months ago ,they would be in sequence per ticket book therefore a good lawyer would of busted his balls for the date he wrote you on the ticket catch what i'm saying?

The moral of this story is, if you just do what you're told and give the officer who has probrably been getting lied to all day, a little respect and the truth, you might get away with it. Personally, when I get the ultra rare combo of someoene who actually admits his speed and shows a little respect (which I always give), I let them go. I can afford to when most of my customers on the NJ Turnpike act like Tony Soprano having a bad day. BTW, I wouldn't take the advice of the Forum lawyers on whether a wrong date will get the case thrown out. That's just not true, maybe in Texas, but certainly not in NJ. Hope this helps.
