Yes????? - who the hell voted YES? Get them banned from the forum!!!
If you want an auto go get a "stock" C5. Why GM even makes an auto C5 is beyond me anyway.
BMW have the correct idea - if it is an M car no Auto - just perhaps an SMG option. Then M-B go and ONLY offer an auto in their AMG offerings.. go figure.
Whew - what blasphemy - an auto Z06.
(although I think GM should have had the LS6 as the standard engine in the Anniversary Edition. I mean purple paint and pale seats do not a special edition make.. )
Hell..even though I didn't vote yet..I got to say..I'd pay 4 grand more just to get the option of a SMG II BMW sequential shifter..
Real sports car drivers don't want that stuff..
Blah..blah..blah...That sh-t is awesome perfection and if the C6 high performance version comes out with this..I'll be lining up for one..
If GM offered this standard technology ..on the C5..I'd be happier than a pig in Sh-t!
80 millisecond shifts..Who the hell here can do that?
This SMG technology does it everytime.. its just consistant perfection....
So if your quesiton is about a torque convertor automatic Z06..would I buy one.? Never..
But Sequential shifter technology like BMW's M3 ..in a heartbeat..
Yeah - add an SMG option to the poll then we are talking.
BTW (not wanting hijack the thread) is there a sequential shift option for the 6 speed tranny?
I have seen a Supra with a sequential shift mod (I don't know if it was a whole new tranny or a mod to the stock one) and it seems to be the best compromise between the cost of an SMG-style setup and a manual paint stirrer like we currently have.
I would not want an automatic in a Z06. In fact I wouldn't want an automatic in any Corvette. I have had a few automatics in my previous Vettes and I never enjoyed them as much as the manuals.
With that said, if I had a physical problem where the manual transmission would cause me discomfort, I would buy a Corvette with an automatic. I would go for the convertible.

Interesting thought. Has not happened in the past 30 years with Corvette's top gun models. The last one I believe was with the 1971 LS6. But even that was held sacred with the RPO ZR2 which was not available in an automatic (only 12 made). But then again, I could be completely out of the box on this one if the demand is large big enough. Other "exotics" have introduced automatics in recent years.
