Z06 at Good Guys show that wasnt a Z06 (stickem badges)
I didnt have the heart to tell him someone or himself put the Z06 badges on a removable hatch top 02 vette (wasnt a FRC). Was just the standard C5 engine also. It was a bling bling car with every imaginable piece of Pep Boys and Kragens glitter on the inside and it really looked like crap. Even the lambo style doors werent that woo pee doo...looked out of place to me.
My son and I were looking at it and he said, hey its got a big sloped window and removable top...I'm like well what do ya know... a wanna be!

I guess there is no possible way he could have purchased the FE4 Suspension,LS6 engine,clutch,transmission,3:42's, TI's, wheels, rear scoops and screens? Who knows, maybe he dosent like the red FRC's. I just kinda feel bad for someone who would pose their Corvette like that but who knows, he could have gutted his Vette and built his own Z06. Anyway, to just buy the emblem and slap it on any old Corvette is a
It;s not really a new thing, people have been trying to make clones for a long time, base models Tempest to look like a GTO, or maybe a Belvedere to look like a Road Runner, etc, etc, etc
There this guy with a red vert that has all the Z06 stickers on it, I talked to him and he told me that it was his way of personalizing his car to his tastes, and then he told someone it was a true Z06 conversion, but the someone he told didn't have a Z, so maybe didn't know the diff.
It takes all kinds

I saw one like that last year at a Vette gathering. It looked like it was a well-done Z06 vert conversion. He had everything - brake ducts (functional) fender badges, etc. I had to get a closer look. When I checked out the VIN, sure enough, there was NO "S" where it should have been. At least he did have a blower on it

Around here there are a few C4 Vettes with ZR-1 stickers on the rear rubber ducky. THEN, at some of our shows these nice people ask if they really have a ZR-1?????!!!!!!!!!! I try to be respectful and nice and show them the Black Book, which most of them have never heard of, and show them how to tell a real ZR-1 etc, etc. etc. A black book and shop manual should be required for all Vette owners!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to sound so strong.
Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I was guilty as a youngster. I took my Convertible mustang and put Saleen gound effects and wheels on it. No stickers though. I didn't go that far. Imagine people suprise when I raced them and they found out it wasn't a Saleen. It was just a 650hp nitrous fed 351 windsor race motor. I guess I should have been embaressed but it's hard for people to see your face turn red when they are 15 car lengths behind you.
I think it's just bad when they claim it is real to everyone. I saw a vert the other night in Dallas with all the Z06 parts minus the badges and it was very tastefully done. I don't think the owner was trying to pose it as the real thing. Z06s just look better. I don't blame him.
I heard a story of how Bloomington Gold certified 2800 of the 1287 70 LT-1s built,as authentic. Must be restorers math.
When you see sh*t like this you just have to smile and nod politely. Then walk away before they realize you're laughing at them.

Just when you think they can't get any stupider, they keep talking.

Can you imagine, Barrett-Jackson circa 2035, "Numbers-match, one-of-a-kind, built for Dave Hill's mistress, letter of authenticity from the Bradford Mint, more valuable than ANY other Z06..."
