Z06 High Speed Run...Problem

Okay, so I SAFELY reached 170 mph in my '02 Z this weekend. At about 150, the weather stripping on top of the winshield came off . Has this ever happened to anyone else? The dealer was a little puzzled today, but repaired it under warranty.

That's what I want to know. The roads around here really suck.

I had a business meeting to attend last week and since it was a 3 hr drive ( going anywhere in Montana is 2 to 3 hours ) I took the Z. A co-worker rode with me and mentioned that the fastest he had ever gone was 120. So I waited for a clear stretch of interstate and ran it up to 140. After backing off, at about 120 I heard a strange "smack" in the right rear of the car, pulled over to take a look and no harm. I still don't know what I hit or what hit me

I have had my Z above 160 many times with a top speed so far of 165 mph.

No parts falling off yet?

Perhaps Duct Tape would solve that problem? (It is supposed to be 500 mph tape !)

Regards,

Both of my past Z06's had no issues at a consistent speed of 145...

Glad you were covered under warranty , Greg!

Be safe , Brutha!

I'm having a problem with the weather stripping around the rear window. Another thing to watch for is the round inserts for the headlights will also pop out. I lost those in the first month. My service manager also has a C5 and told me the headlight inserts will only pop out at around 130MPH. He installed new ones and used clear silicone to hold them in place and told me I was good to 150+ MPH now.

I was driving back from San Francisco to Los Angeles three weeks ago and had the same problem. I think the sun melted the glue holding the molding in, and once I hit about 150 mph the molding seperated from the car . Dealer fixed the problem under warranty without asking any questions.

In running the long course at Pocono, you are hitting around 150 each lap. Never had a problem with things coming off my car or other Z's running at the same time.
