Z06 Roadtrip From Bay Area to Tuscon!! Advice?

Very excited to take my Z on a road tip this January. I'm going from the Bay Area in California all the way to Tuscon.

It seems like a lot of folks on this forum like to take their Vettes on these kind of road trips and am hoping y'all have some advice for a noobie.

How is the police action on I-10 through the desert of Arizona? Anyone have any experiences? I'm hoping those massive stretches of road in the middle of nowhere are not looked at too closely.

Re: Z06 Roadtrip From Bay Area to Tuscon!! Advice?

Invest in a good radar detector would be the first recommendation I have.

Next would be some sort of protection for the front end of the car... a bra, clear bra etc. There is a lot of crap on the road driving I-10 through Arizona. Just be sure that you have a clear view of the roadway to avoid those road gators the trucks seem to spew along the road. I have seen everything from 2x4's to a sofa in the slow lane (dropped out of a pickup truck, and they just kept going) :eek2:

There are some nice sections to open her up after you get past Quartzsite Az. (don't know to much of what the road is like west of Quartzsite).

Arizona Highway Patrol usually hangs around this area, so watch your speed until you get far enough out of town limits.

After you get close to Phoenix, just maintain the speed limit as this is ticket heaven for law enforcement...and much the same all the way to Tucson. You may find an empty stretch here and there..just depends on the hour you drive through, traffic can be a bear around Phoenix and Tucson.

My best advice advice is "have a blast"... (and do what Tom suggests above)

Haha alright guys. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep my eye out but from what y'all said it sounds like I'll be able to find a nice, long stretch of road to let loose on.
