Here is the scoop on the CAARS August 2007 cool-off cruise. All Corvette owners are invited to join in this opportunity to escape the heat and meet up with some great folks in the high country of Arizona.
The event will be August 24th, 25th and 26th. The final destination is Greer, Arizona. We leave the Phoenix metro area at 10 AM on Friday from the Jack in the Box at US 60 and Superstition Mountain Drive in Gold Canyon. For those without air conditioning in the vette who prefer not to spend the morning and early afternoon in the heat (we won’t reach cooler temps till around 1 PM) they can start out earlier and just meet us in Greer after selecting a route of their own choosing. We stop at the Chalos La Casa Reynosa Restaurant in Safford for lunch about 11:30. After lunch we leave there and proceed up US 191 to the Hogtrail Saddle rest area for a break around 2 PM. Then it’s on up the 191 to Springerville and east on the AZ 260 to Greer (arriving at about 4:30 PM) where we stay at the Amberian Peaks Lodge and Restaurant (800-556-9997).

Rooms are ~$140 and up per night (10% off the regular rate for our group). The earlier you reserve your room the more likely you can get a lower priced room. They will put together a dinner for us on Friday night for $35 per person. If you want to participate in the Friday night dinner you pay when you make your lodging reservation. At the bottom of this post is the menu they can provide for the Friday night dinner. On Saturday night we can have a BBQ at the lake there by town (there is a grocery store in Springerville just 15 miles up the road) or visit one of the other restaurants in town.
10 rooms have been held at the Lodge in the CAARS group name. They are asking we have our reservations in by the end of June or they will turn the rooms loose for other guests. There are still rooms available as of July 4th per Ann at the lodge, so sign up ASAP!
