Email notification not working

I am sorry to bring this up again but is there any fix for my problem? It has been probably over 6 months since I have received any email notifications. It really takes away from enjoying this site. I have checked everything on my end and I cannot figure out why it stopped. If I am not mistaken, I am not the only one experiencing this problem. HELP!!!!!

Thanks

You may want to check with your ISP. I have Time Warner Road Runner and for the longest time I did not recieve e-mail notifications. This was in part to a new way that my ISP was trying to block spam. I don't know if they stopped this filter or not, but now I do recieve e-mail notifications from the site. Just my .02

A couple of things to look at:

1. Spam email filters:
Either on your own machine or via your ISP. Many of the larger ISPs view email from our site as spam simply due to the large amounts of eamil that we send out on a daily basis. I know we have been having trouble with with AOL. so check your Virus detection/spam software to ensure the site is not listed as a spam site, and also check with your ISP to ensure they are not blocking the emails.

2. Flush your cookies:
The other main reason for email problems is cookies. Delete your internet cookies and login to the site again. It might not be a bad idea to restart the PC after you delete the cookies.

These two items account for 99.9% of all email notification problems.

AOL wants to know if my emails are being returned with any error messages (Mailer-Daemon) to the forum. Is there any way of finding this out?

I would need to know the email address you are using then I would need to have JC check to see if we are getting errors.

PM me your email address.

I have AOL as well, (hate them BTW) - and have not received email notifications here for over a year. I get them from all other forums, but no big deal for me, I go into my User CP when I log on to check messages for which I have subscribed.

Just spoke to JC.

AOL is completely blocking all email from this site. JC started talking to AOL about this about 2 months ago. AOL is scanning our email streams to see if it includes any spam. They have promised an answer on whether the block can be lifted within the next 8 weeks.

It probably would not hurt for all of our AOL members to call AOL and voice their displeasure with AOL's block of this site.

Thanks Mark...I will call again and voice my displeasure with them. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Maybe you guys shoud make a sticky requesting all AOL users to complain...just a thought.

Aloha,
Bill

I just got off the phone with a supervisor for AOL. They are insisting the problem is not with them. They checked all my email/spam controls configurations and said there is no way it is being blocked. Even if it was being considered spam, it would be delivered to my spam folder which it isn't. When I questioned them as to why only members using AOL as their internet provider are being effected they said it has to be a problem with the site's server not recognizing AOL as a legit provider.

When I informed them that JC had apparently been in contact with them trying to resolve the issue, they flat out denied they are "reviewing" anything. The person I spoke with was a second level supervisor so I don't know how far up the food chain he really is.

So...I don't know where that leaves us. Is it possible the problem is with your server? I don't know enough about this kind of stuff to make an educated guess, just going by what people are telling me. I really would like to see this resolved one way or the other, not just ignored until we stop complaining.

Again I thank you guys (Mark and JC) for doing your best to resolve this issue as I know I am not the only one experiencing this.

Aloha,
Bill

Clearly, we are not a residential provider. We use one of the largest hosts in the country. I have a reference # with a feedback loop from AOL as well.....

We have complied with everything they have asked....And still no resolution.....We'll keep trying however....
