I Appreciate the Site Changes But…

The recent changes to the site are / look great – there seems to be more functionality, useful links, and thoughtful layout… thanks….

Still, however, even though I access the site via an extremely high bandwidth system, it can be extremely slow & taxing for the site to load, to change screens, etc. It feels as if there is so much animated data being accessed at once, that it’s beginning to bog-down even the most advanced systems.

Alternatively, perhaps I need to update some of the settings on my computer….have you got any suggestions?

Re: I Appreciate the Site Changes But…

I don't think the issue you're encountering is a problem with your local machine.

Along with all the site changes came the addition of ads/banners that pull data from remote servers. When we hit the site, regardless of page, all of the ads on that individual page we're hitting must be loaded from their own servers. If their respective servers are bogged down with other requests when we send the request (which frequently happens), our site will appear unresponsive or slow while it's awaiting the ad server's response.

I just noticed that there is a way to eliminate this problem (or at least lessen its severity): we can pay $$$. See http://www.z06vette.com/forums/payments.php.

Hope that helps to explain what's happening...

Re: I Appreciate the Site Changes But…

There was an issue with some changes that we made last night that slowed the site down, but they should now be fixed

With the new setup there are a lot of features located within your User CP. We have made a lot of changes to help you customize or view the site however you wish

Re: I Appreciate the Site Changes But…

I too am finding I can't just pop in and check new posts and get out several times a day. It takes too long to load and too long between changing posts. I'll just have to visit less often and expect to spend more time doing what I used to do in less time. For me, this does not represent progress. For the site owner, I'm sure it represents $. Since this is a free site, I'm not complaining just observing. Everything changes I guess.

Mines loading faster then ever.

In addition, I'm so thankful for the changes because my internet runs thru a filter and the adds were causing all kinds of havoc with my computer. ie. Clicking on the back tab only tried to load one of the ad pages that failed. Now it doesn't do that any more. I'm a happy camper.

I haven't noticed speed issues.

However, the site is VERY busy now. I almost had a seisure from the blinking and flashing ads. One of the things I really liked about the old design was its simplicity. Also, all the orange and yellow makes for an intense color scheme. Maybe that's the idea, I don't know.

I respect the owners' need to turn a profit and I also know that they've provided options for turning off the ads through a membership fee. I guess we can't ask for more than that really...it is essentially a free service afterall.

Some changes have been good, some not so much. Overall, I think the site is moving in the right direction however. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words! We are working hard to make it as customizable as possible for the members We are in the trail and error process of the new features and it will take some time for us to get it right. Things will be tweaked, fine tuned and running smoothly soon

That would be cool. Btw, I hope we don't sound too much like ingrates. Just trying to give honest feedback. Hopefully the site will be better for it...and your bottom line as well.

Constructive criticism is always good. You can ask anyone of the Mods and they will tell you that I am more than willing to talk it out and make it right

I was experiencing some speed issues in the last couple of days, but it seems that has gone away. I think this group is very good when it comes to seeing new changes on our site.
