New Posts - How to Reset ?

With the new system, how do you reset the new posts? On the previous system, when I log on and click "New Posts", it would show, say, 200 new posts. I would read/skim them, then exit. When I log on the next time and get back to New Posts, the old posts would normally be cleared and the system would show, say 2-3 posts.

On the new system, when I log on and read the 200 new posts, log off, then log back on later, it might say 210 posts - the previously read posts are still there. Is there a switch that needs to be enabled in my profile or setup to fix this?

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks.

Carter

Re: New Posts - How to Reset ?

Carter, as embarrassing as it is to say, I'm still trying to figure out some of this stuff too.
I think the only way to 'clear' the posts from your screen after clicking the 'New Posts' link is to either individually click on each post (if multiple page, you must click on the last page) or if you click on the 'Forums' link to the left, scroll down almost to the bottom and click on the 'Show all threads as read' or something like that. 'New Posts' will then be starting from scratch.

There's probably an easier way but that's all I've found so far.

Mike

Depending on how your cookies work.

It should say the following:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

And have a list of the post that usually back up for a few hours before reseting.

Re: New Posts - How to Reset ?

I'm getting used to some of the new features. I'll point out in the "recommendations" post what I find/don't find.

Mike - you are correct. When I go to the forums screen and click on the "Mark Forums Read" link at the bottom, this resets the new posts. (Doesn't look like the site automatically resets it anymore.) I can live with that for now. Thanks!
