Who runs this site?

I would like to get my past posts deleted from this site but am having trouble finding anyone who will take ownership of the site and this issue. It takes only one command for an authorized admin to delete a user's posts.

I initially PMd dascrow but he didn't bother responding at all.

MikesZ06 would only reply "I don't have the capability to delete all your posts." Followup PMs asking "who does?" were ignored.

N4C5S doesn't seem to login anymore.

I have asked nicely via PM.

Why is this such a hard question/request?

Re: Who runs this site?

Doug, el Calor, is the site owner.

Why is it that you want you posts deleted, most owners will not want to delete posts as this can cause database issues. It screws up threads you nposted in and deletes other members' posts in any threads you started. So I seriously doubt Doug will be interested in doing this, and as a private site, he is under no obligation to do this.

If you no longer want to participate on the site, just stop participating.

Mark

Re: Who runs this site?

It's an interesting and very modern conundrum. ANYTHING you post on the internet will likely survive in some form or another for a very very long time, as in "forever".

Even if all of your prior posts were deleted from this sites server/s, there is nothing to say thay do not exist either in part or in whole somewhere else. Anyone can copy whatever anyone else posts and keep it for whatever reason.

So in effect, you are in a way asking to delete your posts from not only this site, but from the Internet as a whole.

In that way, the Internet can be like bad karma. Whatever you say or post may someday come back to haunt you.

Absolutely true. The government knows this when they try to get rid of certain information only to find out the same information has been cached and is available
sometimes even after you delete it off of a site.

Re: Who runs this site?

There have been many scandals in some major corporations due to deleted emails and inter office chat. It never goes away. you wouldn't want to believe what law enforcement can find that has been 'quote' deleted when investigating. It's like leaving a voicemail, you can't get it back once it's said. If your fear is someone could find out about something posted or emailed, deleting it won't prevent this.

The "Internet Archive: Wayback Machine" is another example of this...

There are others as well.
