01 vs 02 sway bar links rubbber vs steel

I notice that the 02 Z06 has steel end links as the 01 has rubber, does the steel improve the function of the sway bar in way in which it will actually improve track performance or is it a longevity improvement.

Not performance but most likely longevity,
I broke my left one and replaced both with 02's
Easy DIY mod.

Doc,
Thanks, was hopping there would be some kind of sway bar improvement.

I installed my Penske DA which i do not know why i rushed and bought them from a local Penske dealer and the valving seems to be on the soft side, the rebound i started with at 1 1/2 which is 9 turns was to soft and i would bounce over bumps, i change it to 3 turns and it is tighter and will be going to the track this weekend.
Compression was a little soft as well i think i will have to re valve them.

Did you get dyno spec sheets with your shocks.

I got the rear metal endlinks but then realized that the front endlinks are also plastic. Does anyone have the GM part numbers of the front metal endlinks from the 02 Z06? Thanks.

Actually on the 01 they look plastic but they are metal. The 02's are metal as well..I do not believe there is any up grade..they look flimsy but so far seem to be able to handle the rigors atleast in my case !!lol ( I'm no light weight in the performance expectation category)

'01's were plastic and '02's were aluminum.

Most '01's were a polycarbonate. Chevy did make a change.

If you are going to change to meal ones, why not change to hemi jointed ones like Hotchkis has. Those are even better that the 'o2's metal ones

DJ

I wonder when GM made the change...my car was born 8.25.00 ( early production) Ther rears were poly and the fronts are metal. The left rear broke so I replaced both rears with metal.

Just to be clear, you are saying that you are sure most 01 had polycarb in the front and rear?
