'03 colum lock does not lock

Had the Z out today and the DIC said "service colum lock".
I read that and thought " Oh shit, here we go with a steering wheel lock problem!!!!
After checking things out, I noticed that the steering colum no longer locks when you shut the engine off and remove the key.
Any one else ever have this problem?

TIA Russ

Mine locked in the OPEN position It was that way for about 9 months, I got the DIC message everytime I turn on the key. ** NOTE ** this was after the factory recall. It finally unstuck it self while I was in Bowling Green and lock in the close position I got it unstuck again a have since install a Column Lock Bypass (CLB)

Well, if it's going to fail, that's surely the best possible failure!

IMO, the column lock is really redundant on the Corvette. If a theif has the sophistication to successfully overcome the PASS key thing, the column lock hardly matters. It's not like you could hotwire the car and drive it away...
