03 Z06 clutch noise

Do all Z06's clutchs chatter? Mine is at idle with the clutch out it sounds like a sewing machine on steriods, push it in and the sound goes away. Im also noticing a clunking from the clutch under low loads such as driving at crawling speeds in a parking lot when turning. Now it doesn't slip under hard loads, or a weak feeling under normal driving. I can run it hard and have no problems but this noise is drivingi me nuts. Ive talked to serval shops and they hear it but have no idea what it is. The car has only 30k on it.. Any Ideas?

My 2004 makes noise with the clutch out in neutral too. In reading through various forums on the Internetz it seems that many do it to some degree. The general consensus is that it is the throwout bearing and is a normal noise. Just more of the mechanical Sturm und Drang one must endure when one drives about in a race car with a license plate I suppose.

The other noise - are you sure it isn't your big, wide tires "grabbing" the pavement in a slow tight turn? Mine do that on some surfaces.

Re: 03 Z06 clutch noise

Thanks for the info TheoZ.
Thats about what i was hearing from the shops about the clutch. Just wondering if they were blowning smoke or not. My race bikes clutch has a similar chatter to it, i just couldnt imagine GM having that noisey of a clutch setup.
As for the other noise, I do notice a tire rub sound (yes got worse when i lowered it, HAHA). But the noise im hearing is coming from the clutch/ torque axle area kinda like a clunky/ metallic sound. Like it clutch being smacked around on the pressure plate or something binding up. Only thing i can think of is some of the CTS-V's had a rubber damper between the drive shaft and the rear end to soak up some torque, when they go bad it makes a clunky sound. But Our vettes dont have that i think?? Our engine connects to the trans axle in the back with a torque tube. Is there something there that can go bad?
