19" wheels all around pros and cons?

Im looking at doing a setup of 19x10 front and 19x11 rear does having all wheels 19" affect the handling. Would an 18x10 be a better setup for the front. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you are going with something exotic, you're going to be adding weight which is usually abad thing, especially rotating mass.

PROS....Looks really good.

Cons.....finding tires in 19"
Cons......$$$$$

I have looked around for some wheels but there pretty expensive when you get bigger than 18s.

Why go 19's I'm not sure what purpose they serve other than looks. Unless you want a 345x30x19 tire in the rear

More tire choices in 18"
If 18" wheels are good enough for the C5r cars, there good enough for me. Plus You can get 335/30/18 Michelin Pilot sports for $165.00 from Tirerack, just the size I need for my 18x12 wheels.

Costly and limited tire selection....also, your diameter will be bigger, which will have an effect on the speedo and will raise the whole car a bit. Plus, as said, more unsprung weight.

This being said, it will probabily look very kewl

Pros - big pimpin'

Cons - costs money to be big pimpin'

Overall - You can get pilot sports in 18 or 19 for the front. For the rear, pilot sports are about the only good option for 19's, so if you go 18 or 19 in front it really doesnt matter, expect to buy pilot sports. So then, if you are determined to go 19 rear, and you want the looks, and you got the $$$, might as well go 19 all the way.

Yes, these wheels might be heavier, but I bet you are not planning to take these nice new wheels to the track either, so don't expect to notice any real performance difference cruising on the streets.

I have an observation, and it's just my opinion. The above statement, I believe is wrong. If it were me, I'd go smaller on the front, regardless of overall size. In other words, 17s w/ 18s and 18s w/ 19s..... The reason is purely aesthetic. If you view Corvettes from the side that have same diameter wheels F/R, it makes the rear of the car appear lower than the front. I think this is because of the short distance of the front tire to top of fender versus the rear, which has several inches between top of tire, and where the fender curves over. Also, 19s on the front will have a greater tendency to tram-line.

The ratio between the front tire and rear tire diameter is important. You can't put any set of tires on the car. Change the front/rear ratio too much and ABS/AH/TC won't work correctly.

I put together a spreadsheet to calculate this stuff. It'll tell you if the ratio is changed too much. Click the "Homage to my 02QS" link in my signature, below, and then click the tire spreadsheet link at the bottom of the window.

Yes, very nice!!

I'm trying to decide what tire to put on the front of my Z. The new rear wheels are 12 1/2x 18 and will have 335x30x18's on 'em. The front wheels are 10x18 and I'm thinking of using MPS 285x30x18.

Is this my best choice?

Any comments?

Thanks guys

Those are the exact sized I just bought. Rears were $165.00 each (oem viper) and the fronts were $296.00 (oem Porsche)
