Ok, we know the Z06 rims changed in 2002, but now I hear a rumor that some 2002 still had the same rims from the 2001 cars, I guess leftover units? Does anyone know if this is just a rumor or what?
Damn missed the lighter wheels by a month. My 02 was built 10/01. Or was it stronger wheels?
I did more research you may have 01 rims

This message is in reference to Administrative Message CHG20010230. The temporary use of the 2001 Z06 wheel on 2002 Model Year Corvette Z06 production is now complete. 2002 Corvette Z06 models with the last six digits of the VIN ending between 109523 through 110269 were built with the 2001 Z06 wheels. All 2002 Corvette Z06 production with a VIN ending outside of this range will have the regular 2002 Z06 wheel installed.
Due to continued delays in air freight service, we would like to inform you of a temporary change on the Corvette Z06. In order to maintain normal production volume, most Corvette Z06 models built between October 8, 2001 and October 15, 2001 will be assembled with the 2001 Z06 wheels. These wheels, while originating from a different material supplier, are nearly identical in appearance to the 2002 MY Z06 wheel. This change is temporary and limited to vehicles built during the aforementioned timeframe.
We will advise you of the order numbers affected once that information becomes available. If this substitution is unacceptable for one of the affected vehicles, please contact your Market Area Team to review possible resolutions.

WOW! The knowledge I have gained on this site is amazing.
I wouldn't bother one if a car has all rims of either 01 or 02+, but having one with missed match would be quite useless, Some have said that some 02 had this, but that I dont quiet believe, but I just wanted to inform people replacing rims or buying a set in parts should be aware. I have an 03 with obvious new rims, I have a seperate set that was suppose to be from a 02 but is from 01, Its not enough weight diffrence to tell, but maybe on the car it woud be a problem on the same side, the color is noticeble a bit darker, but I believe with brake dust you couldn't tell the diffrence, the 01 are mostly diffrent for their spokes have a sharp edge and newer ones are rounded off. To be honest the sharper edges makes more appealing, looks more towards machined then painted, the rounded edges look cheaper, like the paint job is a bad one on the edges.
Early/Mid 2002 to 2004 - Speedline Wheels Z06 Spuncast Wheels
Front: 9594808 & 9594809 - Wheel size: 17x9.5, Wheel Wt. – 19.2 lbs.
Rear: 9594810 & 9594811 - Wheel size: 18x10.5, Wheel Wt. – 21.0 lbs.
(I understand Bowling Green put on 2001 wheels onto early 2002 Z06's until they ran out of the 2001 Z06 wheels.)
2004 Z16
Part Numbers from GM Parts Direct, If anyone can tell me what the part number of the Z16 wheels are that came from the factory on your Z16 I would appreciate it.
Front: 9595433
Rear: 9595434
The 01 wheels are slightly heavier as they are forged vs. the 02 and later which are spuncast.
I dont understand what you mean, do you have the 01 rims or the newer ones?
I have the 02 speedlines. I think there is a difference in the shade and the look of the 01 wheel as well. There was a couple of good post on this topic a while back.
