4.10 gear ratio?

im really confused here.. is the 4.10 reliable for a daily drive Z06? im looking for top speed .. and i donno what ratio would be the best to hit around 200 mph in a Z..
what would u guys recommend?
whats the advantage i'd get with the 4.10s?

thanks in advance
ebrahim

You don't want 4.10 gears for top speed performance. I'd suggest 2.73s or 3.15s if your goal is 200 mph.

I am a little confused here...you want a reliable daily driver AND you want to go 200 mph. You will need more then just gears to do 200 mph. Actually with the 4:10's you will be able to pull in 6th gear from what I have heard as opposed to the 3:42's which 5th gear would be your top pulling gear. You will probably need a H/C package or power adder in addition to the mods you already have.

How often and where do you plan on going 200 mph? I just noticed where you live...I would imagine you got a few isolated roads out your way

i know 200 mph is not as easy as it looks.. but we do have a 3 mile highway which not many ppl use it during late times so its the only place where you would find some street races.. and many ppl here drive cars with higher top ends than the Z06, like the SL55 and the porsche turbo.. thats what makes me think of changing the ratio.. but i donno which one would be the best for me..

as i already explained to ebrahim(i am trying to convince him to get the 4.10 ) the 4.10 will give him a higher top speed, but he will not hit 200mph unless he has 460+ RWHP... i think with the 4.10 he will probably be able to hit 185 tops.. but at least thats better than 174 and the accelration from a stop is much better...

With 4.10's will still not be able to pull 6th gear, unless you have a LOT more horsepower than stock.

The SL55 must have the limiter removed; they're a max. of 155 mph or so from the factory. He'd better be careful too at high speeds with stock aerodynamics.

For a "high" top speed you need power ande a low gear ratio.. to get to your top speed quickly with less power you need a higher ratio and subsequently less power.

In my car I went from a 5spd with 3.27 gears to a 6speed with 4.30 gears.. In a vette I would do 3.73 for a street car that you feel you want more in over the next stock rear guy.. and 4.10 in a track car that someone will run week after week or just fun on the street.

don't race those cars from a roll, a real race is from a dig.
