First, I'd like say how impressed I am with the partition itself... I wish Andy would build the seats in the Z06! IMHO they look too cheap for words. The C5 sport seat and even the C4 seats looked FAR more "sports car" than the "dinette set" seats that the General put in the Z! Again: JMHO.
Back to the partition... the hardest part that I found about the install (aside from actually getting inside the luggage compartment... more about that later) was marking the spot for the holes to hold the two snaps. To make this EASY: Coat the snap half that is on the strap (attached to the partition itself) with LIPSTICK. (Note: DO NOT USE YOUR WIFE'S/GIRLFRIEND'S [or both] $45-a-stick good lipstick...the cheapest works just fine) Pull the coated snap up against the metal support bar & press gently. You will leave a perfect little circle. Then center punch an indent to help you drill the hole(s)
...About getting into the back luggage area, I'm too old, un-limber, and large to pull that off. This is where having a small (5') and more limber (did I mention younger?) wife (or whomever) to be the "tunnel rat". With that small detail taken care of... installation should take no more than 15 min. TOPS! -HarleyB
Oh yeah... the interior is SOOOO MUCH better with the Partition!!

Also if you know of any local car stereo shops(specialized stores please, not circuit city or best buy) - These guys could easily mount the 2 snaps since they are practitioners at this type of work every day. Most also own an angle drill (Makita) which makes it easy .
It took me less than ten minutes to install mine...and that includes vacuuming the metal shavings from drilling the holes. I did this between coming home from work and leaving for a wedding rehearsal dinner, I did not even change my clothes. Very easy, and I didn't even have to get inside the car.
BTW, I beleive the car is "40%" quiter now. The partition makes a HUGE difference in how the car sounds. Much more "refined," (can I use that word to describe a Z?). You don't hear the road noise, or gear whine, etc from the "metal drum" effect. Great addition.
Good tip Harley. I used a white crayon to outline the snap. Worked ok.
I went with having my brother crawl in the trunk because I thought it would result in the fewest scratches. Since he didn't object, that is what we did.
I agree, it should be easy to do from the outside.
I'm also a big fan of Andy's center and side covers. I like the flat load floor.

I was talking with a friend about the comments here, how awesome they are.He said throuw a piece of chalk in every box.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.I think thats a good idea.
Thanks for all the comments guys ,I really appreciate it.
I just put a peice of masking tape on the underside of the brace and press the snap into it. Leaves a perfect circle in which to drill the hole.
ps My girlfriend caught me in the trunk, and wanted to jump in with me!

Another satisfied customer. Mine finally arrived last night. Already had read Chris's instructions and had the lipstick, mirror and drill-bit in the trunk waiting. Thank's for the tips!!
Best compliment so far was that they look like they came with the car. Will test for noise reduction latter today
Andy,
I have to tell you.... I bought one of your partitions from West Coast Corvettes and had to return it. (Please disregard this if the one they sell is from another source) The problems were twofold: there was a significant gap at the top of the partition across the whole length of it (approx. 1/2 "). This gap would not only allow sound to pass through, but the courtesy lights from the trunk were visible when the door was opened. I went through 2 different units and both had the same problem. One worse than the other. Also, the first unit had a small nick in the vinyl and the second had an indentation or pocket behind the vinyl about 3/8" in diameter. The installation instructions said the gap at the top was for air release between trunk and passenge cabin. But, is that really necessary?? Again, if this is not your unit, please diregard. If it is , please comment. As of right now I am partitionless, and greatly in need of one. Maybe I just ran acreoos a bad batch!
All of our partitions are cut on the same CNC machine . The only alterations we have made since Dec.1999 are a hole cut out in the middle as for a place for black plexiglass and Emblem.
I am not doubting your installation , But .5 inches is alot.
Please allow me to make one to your likeing. We will need a few dimensions at a couple points .It is going to take some effort on your behalf but I can insure you it will be worth your effort.
As far as the venting ,I can email you pics of my car and the vent locaion or You can open your trunk and pull back the carpet in the left rear and see the vent that G.M has installed in the rear and not in the doors as compared to most cars.We built a few when the frc car was built back in 99 and found the doors very hard to shut.
Gap- A few of C-5 owners have purchased cargo mats from mat manufacturers. We had to take into consideration this isuue of the cargo mat being so thick that the partition would not fit properly. If you choose to add a mat the gap will decrease 3/8 " approx. This simple piece could be a benefit to you. I personally recommend all of our pieces - Partition,Zo6 Parts Cargo Mat (1 - Piece or New 2 Piece model),Hinged Center Storage Cover and Side Storage Covers. This really gives the trunk a finished out look.
As far as a nick goes , I personally box all of them and if we do see a flaw it gets sold as a blemished model or used model for significantly less. There again I can insure you your new one we build will not have flaws. We have sold way to many of these with less than 1% back and would not be represented so highly by the vendors that support us if we sold bad products.
Please call me at 214-228-8782 or I can call you on my dime.
I welcome you to email me your phone number. andym@airmail,net
It is not often I get to say much here lateley,I truly appreciate you guys responses both Bad and good.In retrospect it all is good info that needs to be made aware. It also gives me a chance to prove how a manufacturer will and can support their customers personally.
I gotta say....I do appreciate your thorough response. This kind of stuff impresses the heck out of me!
Everything you say makes sense about the gap issue. I failed to consider the fact that this one size partition is designed to fit all. It might be nice if you make the customer aware of this, and perhaps offer 2 size options; 1 to accommodate the customer who wants to use the mats and storage covers and the one that doesn't? You know, I really DO want to get the hinged center section cover however I am looking for a nice snug fit. I would also consider the mats but am not familiar with their design. It sounds like there has to be some gap or the doors will be too hard to close. You're the expert.
I must also say that the carpet and vinyl match were PERFECT. But, the two units I received did have those flaws I mentioned. Maybe I was sold some defective units, as you say! That would be a dealer issue then.
Andy, I would love to take you up on your offer. I'm always one to give the second chance. I will call you. Thanks again.
