The answer to all questions regarding wax!
I've used Zymol, Zaino, Meguaires, Mothers...I finally had it with poor reflection and messy residue.
I bought a jar of S100 Carnuba Motorcycle wax at a local Harley dealer and let me tell you-there is NO substitute!
Black is the toughest color to make shine and look wet...this product does it ALL.
TRY IT if you don’t agree it the best $13.00 you've ever spent please let me know!
Enough with the 6-7 coats of Zaino...come on...waxing your ride doesn’t have to be a pain in the butt to get results.
Enjoy
I am also a member of www.autopia.org. Those guys know everything about detailing a car.
I was and old time user from maguiars products for several years. One day I made the switch to Zaino and the results are amazing.
Yes, It is not like regular wax application. You have to spend some time the first applications. The advantage is last longer that regular wax. I am talking about several months.
I used to wax every 3 weeks to keep the shine and wet look.
The final test was this Thursday (8/21/2003). My vette has been in the rain only 3 times. That day was raining heavy. The next day I was looking to have all the shine gone (as always happened with Maguiars). NO!!!! The shine and wet look was there like nothing happened.
Many autopia users recommend a combo application. After all the Z layers apply one or two layers of wax. You will have an amazing shine and wet look. One problem with Z is the plasticity look in some colors. My Z06 is torch red and that is one the colors with problems.
I just apply another layer of Z to my vette and I am waiting to remove it. (second layer). I will apply another layer and then 1 or 2 of P21S pure carnouba wax. I will post some pictures.
I agree if you don't like to spend time detailing Zaino is not/ or is for you.
After all the time you spend you can forget for several months. You have to pay the price the first time working a whole day but you can rest at least for 5 - 6 months. Is up to you to decide.
Good quality carnouba wax, Zaino, etc. are good. Differences are minimal shine wise. Pick the one that fit your life style and be happy with that.
I am anal about detailing. I also wax under the hood, door frames, etc. so I don't mine the Zaino process.
I think I talked to much. Try autopia.org and you can get answer many questions you had.
Bye by now, a Z6 and another Z2 layer are waiting for me.
I think after this I will need some

As I had mentioned in another post on this subject, the S100 wax found at Harley dealerships is the same product as the most highly rated P21S carnuba wax in a comprehensive independent test. I first ordered a jar of the P21S and yes, it is fantastic, super easy and fast to apply, does not stain rubber, etc. Since my car is garaged, and I only need to apply one coat of product (any more is a waste) once every 8 weeks or so, and it goes on/off so quickly - I am sold on this product. The jar and contents of S100 (at half the price - $13.95) from the Harley dealership is exactly the same as my jar of P21S, just a different name - and price! The finish looks positively radiant on my EB.
There are many here on the Zaino bandwagon, and no question it is a good, if somewhat labor intensive product - especially when prepping the car initially. Although the P21S/S100 should be used once every two months or so in a very quick application, the somewhat decreased longevity of this product on your car versus Zaino is easily made back by the time Zaino users seem to spend applying multiple coats.
It is good to know that we have some excellent choices in exterior care products to choose from...
It's all good!

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try. Good excuse to go hang out at the local Harley shop for a while.

I'll have to add my $.02 I have also tried just about everything including Zaino. I am now almost an Adam's Polishes convert. It is quick, easy and leaves a deep wet look. The V.R.T (Vinyl, rubber, tire) dressing stuff is the best on the market. It does not leave any greasy film and has not flung off and coated the side of my car like many other dressing have done. Overall I am very happy and impressed with Adams Polishes. The complete kit costs about $125 bucks with everything you need for about a year of detailing and cleaning. Here's a link to the web site, check it out and decide for yourself. http://www.adamspolishes.com/
Yes! You should be able to buy a starter kit for about $60-$70 which includes a bodywork shampoo (car wash soap that won't strip wax), the Paintwork Cleansing Lotion (cleaner -- the best that I've used) and a jar of Pinnacle Souveran. If you look at the price of Zymol, you are actually getting a product with a higher Carnuba concentraction than the similar Zymol Concours that cost twice as much for the same size container. Plus, I like the Pinnacle better anyway. It's not as greasy and it's easier to apply, particularly in high humidity areas.
BTW.. My mechanic just complimented me the other day. He asked me what I used to get my car so deep and clear. He did NOT think that I used Zaino because he's seen plenty of cars that have been Zaino'd and he had the same complaint that I did. The finish just didn't look very deep with the Zaino.

Bob
The only thing deep about zaino is the B.S. pile that surrounds it.
Why the zaino zealots want to work all day try to get the same shine as other products that take maybe a hour is just beyond my comprehension.

Its one easy application of ZFX & Z2 ...wipe it off..spray Z6 on...then wipe off every 4 months?
Then when I wash the car..I spray Z6 every other car wash and the shines hot sh!t..
I'm sure the other stuffs good too so its not a flame..
I just wanted to say..Zaino's cool not only for its durability but for its ease of use..
I remember b/f using Zaino.. I had it sitting in my garage b/c of all the hype saying its labor intensive..
Then one day about six months later I broke down and applied it..and I was like this was so easy..I said to myself...This was so easy what the hell is everyone talking about it being labor intensive..
Just the otherside of the coin..
Thanks for the tip on the new product. I'm sure its very cool too!

Ok, I am a Zaino convert, but I'm always open to new products. I checked out this site, and it looks like there are at least 2 steps involved with this also. Do you use Brilliance, then the Butter Wax or do you have to use Scratch, Brilliance, then Butter Wax??
I was told a couple of years ago by a local rep for Zaino that the Z5 also had a goodly amount of polish (Z2) in it, so he felt you really didn't NEED to do the Z2 separetely. I found that a few coats of Z5 does get the the scratches out and leaves an awesome shine.
I am willing to do 2 or 3 steps if the results speak for themselves!
