Anyone Here Running Headers with stock/upgraded cats and stock exhaust?

Considering this setup in order to keep the volume down. So far all the header&exhaust setups I have heard are extraordinarily loud for my taste not to mention the Nazi LAPD which will take away your car and sell it and make you eat the loss if they even think you are racing. Anyway..anybody running this setup how much louder is it over stock especially in the car? Does it sound like the exhaust is piped into the rear of the trunk or is it really pretty tame even at WOT? Thanks for info!

I have LT Headers, Hi-Flow Cats and an X-Pipe running through my stock TIs (along with the rest of the 21st CMC 500HP Z06 Head & Cam Package). From an idle up to about 3,000 rpms under normal driving it sounds slightly more aggressive than stock, but wouldn't say louder...just different.

When you are on it hard, you can really tell the difference from about 4,000 on up to redline, but it's not really much louder than stock. I also have had a partition since the first week of owning the car which cuts down on interior exhaust and road noise considerably.

IMO, the set up you are considering is a good middle ground.

If you want to go louder you can drop the cats and go with off road pipes or change to an aftermarket muffler / catback system.

I was running Stainless Works LT headers and stock cats, stock mufflers etc. It wasn't really louder under normal driving, it was somewhat louder under hard acceleration though. My cats clogged up two weeks ago, so I got them cut out. Now it is a lot louder at all times, especially when you get on it. It also pops a lot more on deceleration. If the car is idling and you walk behind it, it now smells like a real car!! I love the smell of HP!!

FLP's with high flow cats through the stock titanium Z06 exhaust.

Its a good mod and the sound is just a little bit louder, definitely not a come and arrest me right this minute type of exhaust.

The stock ti exhaust is not as nice sounding as the aftermarkets but since its performance is there and its 30 lbs lighter than the corsa touring I was considering I think the stock system with the headers is an excellent option.

Put some gears in to as that is a very cool mod.. I was just saying the other day I think the gears are making the car not only faster but sounding better too.

Do the headers on your car with confidence that it won't be very much louder than stock. IMHO..and when you hit around 4 grand..the car starts to sing a cool song.

Good luck

JB

You won't be disappointed. I was running LT's with high flo cats, x-pipe and stock Ti's. Barely noticible over stock, smoother not louder. I think JWz06 has the best discription. Crack her open though and wicked sound, very different than stock. I think you'd like it!!

I have BPP step LT headers, stock cats, xpipe and B&B PRT's. I luved the nascar sound of my system without the xpipe, but I read the mags and well...anything for HP, right? Well the xpipe quieted my system down a lot. May take it off.
