I am going to be going to a track day event at Sebring Int. Raceway in about a month and i want to change out a lot of my fluids and brake pads. Could you guys tell me what the best fluids and pads are for all of these areas.
I am also replacing my bleeder screws for my brakes with a company called "Speed Bleeder". Do any of you know what size the thread pattern is on the stock bleeder screw?
Thanks
-Mike

Just answered your PM, but saw this after that. Though you probably found it already, here's what I use:
Engine: AMSOIL SAE 10w40 Marine Synthetic Motor Oil
Note that this doesn't meet GM Standard 4718M and isn't even a 30 grade oil, but I feel that the motor needs a heavier oil for track use and this one has about the highest HTHS rating available, as high as the 15w50 Mobil 1 EP, but at a lower viscosity.
Tranny: AMSOIL ATF
Diff: AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90
Coolant: I use 25% Dexcool, 75% distilled water and a bottle of Redline Water Wetter
Brake and Clutch Fluid: Wilwood EXP 600 Plus
Brake Pads: Carbotech XP11 or 12 on DOT tires. I'd consider something a little less such as the 10 on street tires.
Have fun down there. I'd love to drive that track, but somehow never made it out there when I was stationed on that coast. I did drive it on a four video monitor XBOX 360 setup running Forza II this weekend. Amazingly realistic.

I don't know the thread pattern but
Corvette 98-05 front: SB1010S rear: SB1010S
I think these were back-ordered as of last week.
pick up a tube of thread sealant or have some equivalent handy ... actually mine have been on over three years and I haven't had a "weeper" yet.
FWIW

Yes i have already ordered those in those exact same sizes!!! thats good, it means i got the right ones . Thank you very much Denny! Do you mind my asking what sealant you used? The sealant is used so that air doesnt excape through the threads when the ball is open right?
Thats very good to hear that you have not had any problems, because i have seen some people have been having issues with them. I would love to hear your method of installing them if you dont mind, i would like no issues as well!

I had a shop put mine on in '04 when I had a TechII flush and DOT4 fluid fill. Since that time I have not removed any to renew the thread sealant ... it's to keep a good seal when the bleeders are closed.
A friend of mine has them on order and I'll help him install them. Should be simple R&R, followed by a bleed to purge any air. Had him order a spare set ... two for each of us, and a tube of sealant for each.
Only have to open 1/4 turn. Big thing is to take care when tightening after opening ... don't over tighten.
Problems some folks have is the spring-loaded ball inside not functioning properly, I think, leading to some weeping. That's why I wanted a couple of spares.

I'm an Amsoil guy but I've heard strong endorsements for Red Line, esp for DTE Diffs ... also read somewhere that Red Line synthetic Power Steering fluid is the cat's a$$ ... prolly going to that from my current valvoline synthetic blend.
Any good tips for getting the fluids in the tranny and diff without spilling it everywhere?
I followed all of the procedures that were described by previous threads and the only thing that gave me a mess was i used the wrong drain pan. I would highly suggest using a drain pan that has a small inlet at the top, but the rest of it is closed off. I used an open drain pan that holds 5 quarts this past time and the fluid splashed everywhere b/c the tranny fluid was so viscous.
Just got to like Advanced Autoparts, they have them, you'll see what im talking about if you dont already know .

John ... you'll need a fluid pump. 10 bux at your local auto supply. get one that screws on to a quart bottle . Usually come with various tube lengths for containers of varying height.
