I'm back in business! Just bought a 2002 Z06. It's stock and in great shape. Need to change that...el pronto!! I salvaged my Kirban short shifter. I'll be replaceing all the fluids and hopefully do the LS1 edit to take the 1-4 shift crap off. I loved the old FLP header package with the V band clamps for the high flow cats. But they aren't around any more. I'm looking for Long tube header suggestions. Installation & perfomance. Thanks.

LG is a great fit with good hp gains and so is American Racing headers. Both proven at the track. There is also Kooks that I have no real knowledge of but supposed to be good. Just suggestions.
I run LG myself.

Re: C5 Z06 Long tube header suggestions
Glad to hear you are back in the saddle again. If I had to do it again, my first choice for long tube headers would be ARH headers....made in the U.S.A., not some chinese knock off. Easy installation and great quality is a plus.

You have the only true American sports car so why not use American made mods ?
Look at Stainless Works,
they have been making headers for the Corvettes in the ole USA for decades and use good quality stainless steel
Else compare to ARH,
LG is made outside the USA for high profit margins, lower quality, workmanship and fit.

If I was buying headers - ARH all the way!
Also - if you are doinig the install yourself, I've heard the ARH are much easier than Kooks.

Wow, I never gave a thought to headers being made outside of the U.S.! I'm curious, 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" headers? I'm thinking of doing a cam in the future.

1 7/8 primaries with stock valve and cylinder sizes will reduce low to mid torque so
the 1 3/4" will be fine
Better is also add a true X-pipe close to engine which will better exhaust pulses and help extract all exhaust from cylinders
Yep some overpriced headers come from cheap labor in Mexico or China
Keep in mind some of these headers are too long forcing all 02 sensors and Cats further downstream and cause AFR issue
Use a pro who knows how to tune for them to reduce chances of failing EPA I/M or tailpipe smog tests
Do not forget to install heat socks over sparkplug wires and any place headers are too close to harness wiring to protect them from that heat

I have had Dynatech LT's and am currently running ARH LT's. Both made here in the USA and both all stainless steel. The ARH's are the easiest header install I've ever done on any car! Highly recommended!

Thanks everyone. Mike, thanks for reminding me of the socks and pointing out the X pipe placement. I think I'm down to Stainless Steel Works or ARH. But I could change me mind over a couple of beers! Thanks again everyone.

bump
I run ceramic coated SLP LT headers with HFC/Xpipe to stock ti's. headers are 409 but the rest of the system is 304.
Once the headers were installed, fit is perfect. headers aren't as high quality SS as borla or ARH(409 vs 304) but system is 500 cheaper and they're lifetime warranty.
fitting headers went through top and took some work removing the generator/bracket and a prybar to convince the engine to either side. pass was a lot easier than drivers.

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble a car and 1 nut to scatter it all over the road.
For what it is worth, my set of Kooks (1 3/4") stainless steel were installed by Lingenfelder in late 2005. I have never had an issue with them and I have tracked this car from Spring of 2005 to the present. Food for thought...
