C6/427 swap into a C5 ?

Does anybody have any idea if the C6 motors will bolt into our C5 s? One of these new 427/Hp motors (along with some aftermarket goodies that will surely be available) could become a 600+HP killer real easy.Hmmmm......

Baron...I think it would be easier/cheaper to use the ls6 block to do a 427.

dry sump would be a hassle also and maybe OBD III would complicate it. I'll be waiting to see, someone will do it I'm sure.

BTW: I was talking to a couple guys the other day, and they thought that the new "427" was pretty much maxed out from the factory, and probably better to build a ls1 or ls6 to achieve mo power

I would start with the C5R block, maybe use the LS7 12 degree heads or go AFR225...

But after thinking awhile, I remembered this C5-R engine in a Camaro with 600HP

Huh? I was thinking that a stock LS7 longblock with a decent sized camshaft would yield huge results?

I'm sure, before too long, GM Perf Parts will have a "crate" version of the C6 7.0L, for those wanting the "latest"...
Till then, if n/a, consider the Darton-sleeve LS1/LS6. If a "Power-adder" is in the plan, use the C5-R block. Or, so say my "sources"...

Hey Ted. I still am, but once the new Zs come out, I do think with a few mods, they are going to be killers. Just thinking about the future. Doing a little research, the Dry sump(as Speedpup pointed out) may be somewhat of a problem. The cam sensor is now located in frt of the motor, and they have removed the knock sensors to the sides of the block, but this only requires a few feet of wire to correct. Never even thought about the OBDII to III conversion(perhaps another expensive issue) Original thinking was it might be an "inexpensive" way to step up to a 427, but , as of now, probably cheaper (and better) C5-R Block, and build it bullet-proof.( Unlike the old days where you could pull that 300 hp small block out, and bolt in a 400+ hp Big block, and all that was needed was a new set of headers, and sometimes a bigger radiator, and you were done in a day. Maybe wishful thinking on my part.

I was also thinking the relatively high production volume (for a 427) would make this cheaper than a custom build. Case, why do you think not?

If you would swap in a C6 Z06 LS7 427 to a C5 you will need to at least:

1. Relocate battery to rear
2. Install new radiator with integral oil cooler
3. Install a C5 dry sump pan with 2 stage pump
4. Install dry sump reservoir & lines
5. Rewire knock sensor harness
6. Rewire or take into account the relocation of the crank sensor
7. Reprogram C5 OBD II PCM

I predict this will become a hot selling aftermarket kit.

However, I still think a C5R or C6R block as a basis will be a better option.
