Which cags defeat to get

Are they all made by the same company, just sold indifferent catalogs?

Or is one made better than another?

Basically you are buying an end cap and a resistor. There is little difference between them, so don't spend a lot of time looking around.

Radio Shack, get the resistor. Use electrical tape to hold it in place. This method is working for me for many years, same tape.

I wouldn't waste my money on it. IMHO

I'm with Backlash. I bought mine from Ecklers because I had their catalog handy when I was buying, but believe you really can't go wrong. I bought a prebuilt one vice going the radioshack option for convenience.

I got one when I first bought my car cause someone said I would need to have it (BS), but never put it on after realizing the way I drive my skip shift never comes on anyway. Its a totally not needed item to buy unless you drive like a old lady, but it makes for a good conversation piece when you brag to people you put one on cause your Z06 is shifted at such a low rpm you need it.

The issue with getting one seldom has to do with how you drive the car, but where you drive it; without one, in heavy traffic can be a pain. I strongly recommend this mod for this reason.

Seems like they are all the same to me. I think I would have hated my car without one. I tend to drive it pretty easy around town, and without the defeat I had to rev it higher in 1st than I wanted to. I gather GM only put it on there to help get the gas mileage up.

Thanks guys. Good posts. My reason is that I drive any car with a cold engine (oil) very easy til it comes up to temp. I know the cags does not operate on a cold engine, but it does start to "interfere" with the way I choose to drive my car when the engine is 1/2 way warmed up.

Once it's up to full temp I don't "baby" it so the cags is out of the picture anyway.

It's that in between time when I want it defeated. So I guess I'll buy the Corvette central or Eklers, or whichever has the best deal.

Thanks.

Ps if you have your car in for tranny issues, make sure that thing is OFF the car. Dealers look for any excuse to deny warr work.

Ask me how I know.

Little difference between them if they're different brands. Some guys make their own. No big deal... just order one or make it yourself. You can't go wrong... you'll be glad you did it.
