Cam Goodies

Planning on getting the X1 cam from MTI in the next couple weeks and was wondering if I needed to go ahead and get underdrive pulleys (289+installation), ported oil pump (100+installation), and double roller timing chain (150+installation)?? Are these things completely necessary, or more of a precaution? Which one or two would benefit me more if I didn't do all three of them? Thanks

Edit: Almost forgot, I have heard that it is better to go with the stock pushrods, instead of the hardened or the chromoly ones if you are doing a cam only? What do you guys think?

Z MAN, I did all of the above with my cam install.

It is cheap insurance, while they are in there have them replaced.

I did not get the under drive pulley, I could not justify $300 for 5 rwhp.

Hope this helps.

I really don't think that the ported oil pump is worth the$$. I got one from katech and disassembled it. Very little is touched in the port. The whole oil pump fear is because the pre 01 had some high rpm problems. As far as timing chain... I almost always re use stock. H/C cars at 461 rwhp no problem, ATI supercharged/cam no problem. You could install the GM timing chain tensioner. I have yet to use one but I have seen them and I want to try it out. The only time that I use hardened pushrods is when I have milled heads requiring a different than stock length. Or on a solid roller. The stock pushrods have been good to 7000 rpm on hydraulic cams in the .588 lift area. I hope this helps
