cam swap

What is the difference between the 01 and 02 motors is it just the cam? And if so what cam will go good with my 01 stock heads? I would like to go just above 02 cam. And any idea what kind of RWHP cam swap would make by itself and with headers.

cam & valve train are different in 02 and on.
hard to say what you can expect from just a cam swap - depends on the selected cam profile. personally, I wouldn't just install a new cam without new valve train too - but that's just me. Same with headers, it depends on what headers you install.

Nothing different of relevance other than cam. Any cam for a LS1 would work good for your 01 LS6. www.thunderracing.com

You can only go with shorty headers if you plan to stay emissions legal. With shortys and a good 114 LSA smog legal cam you should get 400 rwhp, maybe a little more.

The 02+ valves are different (sodium filled, I think). Not sure about pushrods & springs but, since the lift was increased, it wouldn't be too suprising to see stronger springs installed. I don't think the 02 heads themselves differ from 01.

What kind of power are you trying to attain? Once you have a stated power goal it will be easier to choose the appropriate mods to attain it. Personally, I wouldn't suggest using the 02 cam & required valve train - too little bang for your buck. Why not discuss your performance (and budget) needs with one of the supporting tuners?

I know this didn't strictly answer your questions but its the best advice I can give at this moment.
