Can you diagnose this strange problem?

Occasionally my Z06 will exhibit the following symptoms when fully warmed up:

Depressing the brake:
• fails to light up the brake lights
• turns off the running lights and turns on the fog lamps if they are switched to the ON position
• illuminates the dashboard lights and display, even when car is OFF

Depressing the LOCK button on the key fob triggers the alarm

There are no codes to indicate the source of the problem.

After being off for about an hour and a half everything seems to return to normal function.

Anyone else have this happen? What is the source of the problem and how did you get it fixed?

Z Me - I see that you have the Euro tail lights. Other have had similar problems with either the wiring harness or the connectors being heat affected. Try this thread and good Luck.

Short in Euro harness?

Many thanks, 03 EB Z, for taking the time and providing a link to help me with a solution. Moved the harness away from the muffler and the problem has not repeated itself. Will likely wrap the harness with heat insulation the next time the car is on a lift.

Thanks again and happy holidays!

Sounds like a loose ground. Good luck finding that!

Glad I could help. When I read your description it reminded me of Wayne E's post from a while back. Hope that cures it for you. Next to the folks who visit this site, the information sharing is the best part. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
