Car wouldn't start...

Well i pulled up to the local Dunkin Donuts and had my car running for a few minutes while i was talking to a buddy of mine, i was there a little longer then expected so i turned the car off and just kept BSing...well about 5 minutes later i get back in my car and it wouldn't start... no clicking, no nothing...it was like i was trying to start the car without pushing the clutch down...i tried about 4 or 5 times and then popped the hood, all the obvious stuff seemed fine so i closed the hood, tried starting the car again and it fired up...i'm pulling out of the lot and notice a check engine light...i drive it home and the car is running perfectly normal ...so my question to you guys and gals is why did this happen and why is the light on??...my car is a 02 Z06 with 14k...i have a B&B Bullet exhaust and a Hurricane air intake...otherwise it is stock...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

Did you have any power in the car at the time? If not, I would check your battery posts (Take them off to inspect and clean). Engine light is probably on because of the lost of power and PCM communication. You can check your codes to make sure. Let us know what you find.

Well thanks for all the helpfull information...I pulled the cables off the battery, cleaned them up, reattached them and then scaned the DIC for codes and there were no new codes, they all had a "H" next to them, so i cleared them and the car seems to be back to normal...although it never really felt like it lost any power or anything, but now it starts easily...Just wanted to say thanks to all that posted...It is greatly appreciated!

I prefer the cream filling myself

My car does that to me ALL the time......but my problem is VATS - security light comes on too for no reason. Dealer thinks it's a frayed wire in the column. Mine did it to me THREE times today I can't wait for FRC Tom to disable the VATS at the fest for me. Wonder how many times it'll do that on the way there and I have to hold up an entire caravan for five minutes until she's ready to cooperate again

If your car has the OEM battery, that might be the problem. They will go bad in a heartbeat and not give you any warning.
