Castrol 10W/60 TWS Full synthetic - is it ok?

A local Z06 owner told me he rans a full synthetic made by Castrol...10/60 is the weight...does this seem ok? What would the advantages be to run this oil? This is the same sort of oil I used to run on my old M3....??

Thanks....

I would NOT run anything that heavy in a stock motor, i.e. stock crank/bearings w/stock clearances. 10W30 works fine in these motors, street and track (stock bottom end).

I agree with Les. The LS6 motor was designed to run with an oil in with a viscosity in the range of 10-12 cST which a 30 weight is at 212F. Even a 50 weight is about 80% higher in viscosity. The only reason I know of to run an oil with that high a viscosity is if your oil temp is really high, say on the order of 300F, where a 60 weights viscosity will be nearer the correct range for the motor.

For my track use, I see oil temps on the order of 250F (I have an oil cooler) and I only run a 10w40. I can't see needing a 10w60 with a stock motor.
