ccw drag setup on.....now what?

just looking for opinions of those out there who have more experience than me with them, I'm very close to stock with just a vararam, bbk throttle body and PRT's. Unfortunately a stock clutch, but I'm not upgrading till this one is dust. I was told to air them down to 10 psi (stupid question but does the track have air so I can actually drive home without dying? if it matters we're talking raceway park in NJ, if anyone knows where, like the gas station, I'd love to know) and come out of the hole dumping the clutch around 5000 rpms......any other thoughts? I'd like to see something better than my 2.2 60 fts' and 12.7 at 114 or so, and figured this was the simplest way to shave a good .5 seconds off of my ET (and possibly kill my clutch in the meantime but thats more incentive for an x package at cartek regardless.

thanks guys,

Steve

Start saving up for a new output shafts or a rear end. LOL

But the advice seems pretty good. I would suggest starting out with 15 psi or so and adjust depending on if you get too much spin.

well I figured thats a given, I figured let me play with the car and get driving it stock and close to stock down, then over the winter let it grow some real guts. That way I'm afraid of it again for a little while....because it somehow seems slower.....or I'm a heck of alot more comfortable goin faster...I gotta say the slicks and skinnies aren't a bad setup for me on the street, I think they'll save me quite a few tickets on the highway.....and the blvds, no one wanted to run me tonight when I was looking for a race, 4 mustangs turned off on me and they were the idiots who chased me down.....guess that M/T scared them or something.

lol

People are not used to seeing Z06s on the street rolling on slicks and skinnies.

Yes, the track will have air. As to air pressure and launch RPM, don't go all out on your first pass. Have you ever gotten down hard on the brakes at 120+ with skinnies up front and bias ply DOT stickies out back? What about steering the car when it gets loose at 1/2 track?

My advice - start around 18psi. Do a good burnout to heat them up (2-3 seconds) and come out of the hole as you normally do. Record the 60' and results. Start dropping your pressure and upping your launch rpm until you're hooking well and leaving hard. Without rim screws, I would not go below 12psi in the tires.

Also, if you drive around a lot on your MT ET Streets, you will wear them out. Back and forth to the track is good, but I'd limit it to those miles only. You're heating up the tires while driving, they aren't designed for cruising, you'll sacrifice some of their stick by doing that

congrats on the CCW setup; I love mine.

I've found I can get away with near 20psi in the et streets and still cut low 1.6 60fts. I'm petrified of blowing the rear apart and running too low a psi and "dead-hooking" isn't what I'd like to occur.

Depending on track prep, a little spin out of the hole doesn't necessarily mean your 60ft is going to be poor. I definitely spin for like 10-15 feet and then it just plain scoots like a spotted ass ape.

I've never cut above a 1.65 on the CCW setup even running that high of a psi. And I've always managed to drive my car home under its own power.
