Center Console Latch? Quick Question

My center console does not snap shut. It has no mechanism (besides the lockable latch and gravity) to hold it in place. This is the way I bought it so I am not really sure what should be going on in there.

Is there a latch in the console that holds it shut? Without having to lock it?

There is a hole in front of the lockable latch that looks like a place for another piece to go in. But there's nothing on the console door to hook into there.

Thanks for the pics! That is really interesting. It looks like I'm missing the top piece and the bottom piece is kind of broken off. I ordered the top piece on eBay but does anyone know a part # or what I'd call the thing it latches into on the bottom? Mine's just stock btw. None of that fancy-schmancy stuff for me.

Just search eBay for 'C5 Console Latch' and both parts of this latch will pop up. Total cost for both parts: $24. Mission complete.
