The exhaust system on the C5 goes up the middle and radiant heat warms the tunnel that you leg leans against. There is a existing solution that adds a heat blanket between the tunnel and hte exhaust tubes at a cost of almost $300. I found this stuff
at Significantly lower cost http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...85&prmenbr=361
Does this look like a DIY solution for our cars? Opinions?

Probably no worse than other items that are held on by adhesive on the outside like velcro strips used with car bras or chrome exhaust plates between the exhaust tips.
Xtreme has these on their site. Check out http://www.xmotorsports.com/exhaust/ at the bottom of the page. Looks like a good idea to me. Not sure how their system attaches though.
But yes, there is a big difference in price. I wonder what the difference is.
www.Dynamat.com also has some stuff for heat reduction, though it costs more. They recommend using their Xtremeliner on top of their Dynamat Xtreme for maximum heat reduction. These would probably be applied under the carpeting inside your car rather than in the tunnel. That would probably be safer- no risk of absorbing oil over time (I've seen a Countach go up in flames when his exhaust wrapping caught fire).
I'm with Javelin,
Recently added dynamat type material to the interior of the car for purposes of road noise reduction. One of the side benefits of this product was heat reduction at the center tunnel. Stuff works really well. Try www.b-quite.com.
