Ceramic Brake Pad questions

I'm considering changing to the ceramic pads, has anyone that has installed these had problems with excessive rotor wear or warping? Thanks

I've had ceramics on, front and rear, for several months now with no problems at all.

Do you get the same stopping power? If they are so great why didn't GM put them on the car to begin with?

Interesting you say that though since Porsche is adding these to their most $$$ cars.

You are right ..........maybe they feel only a few will go to the track. I was under the impression the brakes that dust the most stop the best.

The stock pads do have more "bite" to them, but for everyday street driving ceramic pads will do just fine.

With stock pads you have to clean wheels everyday, but with ceramic you can wait till the next car wash. This for me far outweighs the extra foot or so of stopping power.

Porsche, Ferrari and others are switching to ceramic rotors I hear. So in my feeble antiquated mind my ceramic brake pads should do just fine.

I do wonder about premature rotor warping, but that may be a good excuse to go to Brembo rotors or something similar.

Recently in my job I had the factory rep from Raybestos brake company ride with me for a couple of days and we discussed among many things the ceramic pads for performance driving and he did not recommend them for extreme perf. driving due to the ceramic vs heat concept and said they would eventually crack under these conditions. He also said they are a great replacement pad for anyone wanting to eliminate brake dust and noise but for performance driving carbon metallic was the way to go.
