CF Braille Battery Installed

Got the 11.5 lb CF Braille Installed this weekend (see below). Installed pretty easy and looks great. The weight savings will be nice up front.

Thanks Justin G and Andy S for help in ordering the right one....

Re: CF Braille Battery Installed

Looks great. Let us know how it holds up over time. I'm thinking about getting one myself.

Very nice
Is that a C5 battery hold-down that Braille supplied?

Re: CF Braille Battery Installed

Thanks for the compliments. Took it for the first drive since the install on Saturday and everything worked fine. Cranked the car over 5 or 6 times just like my Optima Red Top did, battery voltage read high during travel (per DIC), & hold down kit worked fine....all in all, no problems yet !!!

The heavy duty plastic mount kit that I used (in pictures) is sold by Braille, however, per another members recommendation, I purchased the side post adapters and identical mount kit from Autozone for about $10 total....

One thing I should note, is that for mounting the battery on its side, I had to double up (buy an extra set) the thick pink-ish colored rubber washers that go on the J-hooks, so that the wing nuts would still engage the threads on the J-hooks, due to the reduced thickness of the battery & mounting it on its side....

If you do not use doubled-up rubber washers the wing nuts thread all the way down on the single rubber washer past the bottom of the j-hook threads and just spin free and the battery remains a little loose and can slide around some in the battery tray....

Do you drive your Z often? I was told that if you let it sit more than a couple of days your battery will be dead when you try to take the car out. Can you let us know if this is the case? TIA.

Re: CF Braille Battery Installed

I usually only drive my Z a couple days a week and keep the battery hooked up to the tender when Im not driving it, so the battery going dead is really not a possibility, unless it turns out to be a defect.....

That said, Ill try an experiment this week or next week when I dont have to drive it and leave it off the tender for about 4 or 5 days and see if it goes dead.....Ill post the results when I find out what happens
