Changed all the fluids over the w/e...

Changed all the following fluids:

Oil: Mobil 1 10w-30 UPF44 fliter

Tranny fluid: Mobil 1 ATF

Rear diff fluid: Amsoil series 2000 75w-90.

Flush Brake Fluid: ATE 200 amber

Flush Clutch Fluid: ATE 200 amber

Removed 02 pads and reinstalled ceramic pads on the front.

Change rear brake pads. Done after 10k miles and alot of AH at the track.

Lubed caliper guide pins.

Cleaned inside of wheels.

Polished Borla tips and Resonators.

Cleaned rocker panels underneath of car.

After 5 track days since the Feb, she was in need of a good cleaning. When I'm doing alot of track days I change the tranny/diff/oil fluids every 5k or so. Brakes get flushed before every event and a quick bleed after.

Ok when is the next track event so I can get her dirty again.

Here is a pic of the caliper guide pin:

Wheels after cleaning:

Silver,

You are gonna wear out the lug bolts on that car as much as you take stuff on and off

Say the word and the Hoosier's are on my car and we are off to Talledega!

If I would put a stripe on the wall everytime I had the wheels off, I would have ran out of wall space by now.

I need to do one more event before the middle of August.

How are your rotors holding up? I was suprised to see you didn't change the front rotors as well.
I got six races out of my last set (about six hours of total track time) with Carbotech Panther XP9 pads.

They have small heat checks in them, but nothing major. Funny that the heat checks are only on the outside of both front rotors. Inside is fine. I do have some ducts going right to the inside of each caliper:

Additional front brake ducts "Mobil 1 Junkyard War Style"

The rotors are from NAPA and are about $62 each. Can't really say if they are better then the stock or it the little bit of air that I'm getting to them that is helping. The center hub area of the NAPA rotor comes unpainted. So I had to tape off the rest of the rotor and paint them with high temp black paint.

Subdriver,

FWIW my rotors look very good. Remember my post about leaving AH on? Last time at Little Talledega I had a lot MORE brake dust on the rear tire's than on the front Brakes got less of a workout than AH did.

Silver,
I have DRM ducts on mine, which are legal for T1 this year. They really do help cool the rotor and extend rotor life. But I am seeing the same thing as you: the inside gets most of the cooling. Something to look for in this case (other than heat stress cracking on the outer rotor face) is that the outer pad will wear faster as it gets hotter. I rotate my pads inside/outside after every track session to even wear.

Les,
I did notice my rear brake wear went down significantly when I stopped using AH. They were wearing as fast as the fronts. Now they are wearing at about 50% the rate of the fronts.

Hey SubDriver,

I just ordered the Carbotech XP9s and XP8s for my new track pads...how have you found them? I had KFP Gold/Silvers last year that were good, and Panther Pluses, which were pretty good, but didn't last as long. What has your experience been with them?

I ran the PFC01s all around for four races. I think they are a great track pad, good feel, great stopping power, but ate up my rotors.
I searched for an alternative and found Carbotech Panther XP9s. I have run them for six races and associated practice sessions. The front pads and rotors may have one more day in them, but I am going to Roebling Road on July 4-6 for a double National weekend. Decided to change the front pads and rotors before that race.
So, for a pad that costs half as much as the PFC01s, I got 50% more use out of both the pads and the rotors.
I honestly don't have enough experience or back to back comparisons to say which pad is out right better.
During my six races on the Carbotech pads, I won three regionals (1 of 3, 1 of 4 and 1 of 3 in class), passing the lead Vette under braking in two of the three races. I won two Nationals (1 of 3 and 1 of 4 in class), passing the lead Vette under braking in one. I also had one DNF after running enough of the race that it counted for points (radiator hose came off). Somewhere in there I set a new track record at Gateway in St Louis. Bottom line, even for SCCA T1 racing the Carbotech pads are good enough to win and may be as good as the PFC01s. They have excellent feel, warm up quickly without grabbing or sticking, and don't seem to get as hot as the PFC01s.
For a track pad, I highly recommend them.
