My car ('04, 6400 miles) has recently started reporting a charge system fault @ startup, but not always. I read the codes and got 2282, 2283, 2284, 2285. These are all the battery #1 and #2 faults from both door modules.
The car came w/ an optima red top installed.
Should I worry?
In my vette when I turn the key on the gauges go all the way up and back while the DIC says "Corvette by Chevrolet". I always wait until the DIC is done and the gauges have returned to the starting point to start the car. I never get the charge system fault when I do that.
I get it rarely, once every two months or so regardless of how I start the car. I think the combination of HID headlights and 1000w of audio could be the cause because when I do get it, it's always after running both for a long period of time before I shut the car off.
I get that message every so often when starting the car cold.
I'm guessing that it may be time to replace the battery?
I'm running the original battery from 9/2000 so its not too suprising that it may be near death.
