Dealer Oil Change... or me?

Should I do it or have the dealer do it? This is the forth oil change.

Also the brakes pads are looking slim for the first time. What do you guys recommend? I plan to do a big brake kit in the spring along with bigger rims so nothing to expensive on the brakes. Some nice pads and maybe brakes lines if they are worth it.

Ummm I think I'm missing something here. You are asking US if YOU should change your own oil or have someone else do it?

Assuming I understand the question correctly. If you like to do this kind of work, or if you don't trust others to do it right, I'd say do it yourself. Otherwise have the dealership do it.

If you can do it on your own, I that is what I would recommend. The best way to know it was done right is to do it your self.

Lol! Basicly yea.

I changed the oil among many other things on my 00 Trans Am for over 3 years so I can do this I guess. Any ideas on the best way to get under my car? It is lowered all the way on stock bolts.

Oh also, it has been awhile since I have been under a LSx car. Do I need it to be level to get all the oil to drain out?

What 3pedal said ^^^^^.
I like to look around under there ... like for leaks, loose things, etc.
For Crisrokc ... best check the "lifting for oil change" long running thread.
Lifting for Oil Change

One way ...to drive onto a 2x10 board, then lift from side with jack ... or from front with jack and 2x6 x 20-24" board laid across the font member, then rear member ...

Do it yourself... You will take the time to let it drain properly, you won't overtighten or strip the oil pan bolt... You can pre-fill the filter for instant lube on start-up. You can clean your hands before you get in the car. You won't dent ot scratch it and you get to go for a road test! You also save some $$$...

I enjoy working on my cars... I sit all week at a desk.. so I look forward to doing real work!

It's easy. Jacks on the front and then lift the rear a tad higher than the front. This drains all the oil to the front of the pan, where the drain plug is.

If you're going to do this yourself you may have to drive the car onto something that'll elevate the car about an inch or two higher in the front. I need to do that to be able to roll a jack under it.

Obviously if you have a lift or some other contraptions then you won't have this issue...
