So I finally finished off my LS1 Edit tune yesterday with some dyno runs (no baseline results pre-mods; my mods as of now are 160 Tstat, Kooks 1 3/4", and K&N FIPK air intake system; still have the stock Ti exhaust). Final numbers were 379 rwhp (378.9 for you technical people ) and 373 rwtq (372.9) at a safe A/F of 12.9.
I guess WayneE, I capitulate and LG's are "the worlds most powerful headers." By in large, I'm very satisfied and this is right in line with what other's have seen (I think Louis Rivera has the same set of mods I have and he got virtually the same numbers at Vett Drs.). I will post the graph this weekend when my son gets home from college (I plead the "Zippy Amendment" on compuker ignorance ). The one thing I think I can comment on is the shape of the torque curve.... it is rather flat from 3700 rpm right thru 5500 rpm, with the peak at ~ 4700 rpm (I think that is a good thing, yes?). The horse power curve rises nicely from 3000 rpm and begins to flatten at 5000 rpm, with the peak just at 6000 rpm. I don't know what that all means, so perhaps some of you can chime in with your thoughts prior to seeing the graph. But, that's how I'm reading it.
Another interesting thing. Just prior to this pull, the car was dyno'd "cold" (H20 @ 162) and the numbers were 375 rwhp and 371 rwtq with an A/F of 12.5. The dyno graph which I will post was made about 2 minutes later w/o any modifications to the computer. The only difference was that the H20 temp was now about 174, yet the A/F went to 12.9 (and the car made a bit more power). Chris from ECS see's this phenomena time and time again, (which is why he likes to do back to back runs before pronouncing the A/F as "set") and it is his contention that there is a "hidden" file GM has in the computer that the commercial tuning software cannot see which causes the A/F to lean out slightly with increased temps. At least, that's what I heard him say.

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid...John Wayne.
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
Good numbers Don! Comparable to my 381.4 and 379 that I got with my headers and tune. My A/F was 12.8 right bank and 13.1 left bank. I have the BPP step headers, so I guess I'm a step child when it comes to the "new", "more powerful" headers....

Mike,
I felt for sure when I saw that you posted I would open and read "moved to pit road." You see, I was just trying to get your "numbers" up.
As for being a "step child," no shame in those values. Again, it has been my contention that any change from the stock exhaust to a tubular design is a good thing for our engines performance and longevity.
Great numbers. We put down almost the same numbers. Sounds like a grudge race at the Fest.
Norman,
I'll only run you if you add some weight to that car (ie - like maybe a pretty passenger?) since judging from your photograph I'm giving up close to 100 lbs to you (or though it might be less by the summer, I hope ). Oh, and if it sounds like I'm coming, I'm working on that as we speak. Looks like I might be able to tie some business out there with the pleasure.
Great numbers Don. You should be feeling good over them. Hopefully I will get down to Chris next week and we'll see what I get.
By the way while the weather in Puerto Rico is nice and warm. However, I'm in a building today that the AC has gone haywire and the temp is 65F. Some days, you can't win.

good numbers.. and from the way your talking it seems like your gains are not 'peak' numbers but rather a gain all over he curve.. which is good.. you may have only 380 at the wheels.. but the 380 you have is STRONG if the curve is right ...
i would like to have a something like you rather than getting 390 with a peaky graph...

Oh, no way. I'm not bringing anyone. I want to meet a nice girl at the Fest. The challenge has been issued for the 1320.
