E-brake will not work

I recently bought a 2003 Z06. The E-brake will not stay up. It doesn't click or anything. If you hold it up, it locks the brake and still works, but it will not stay up. Is there a piece that I can replace? Or do I need to buy a whole new ebrake and have it replaced?

All of your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
-Jeremy.

Re: E-brake will not work

Since you bought Vette used just might be possible another owner did a old drag racing trick many of us have used for decades.

For launching at drag strip by pinning the handle so it cannot latch then when staging at the light and holding handle up allows to brake torque the engine, drivetrain and when launching then just releasing the handle to remove the brake that was preventing car from rolling.

Many of us push the handle button in and hold that while drilling a small hole through handle and button.
That then allows a small pin be used that prevents handle to latch
Removing pin then handle will work as normal

This way just releasing handle the button does not need to be pushed to release.

You cannot buy just a part but you might take it apart to check for a pin being used or something slightly bent you can correct ?
