I've recently noticed my new to me z06 pings at high rpm when going WOT. Only power mod I know of is the Vortex cai. I always use 93 octane. I think the ecu is modified because the rear 02 sensors used to be disconnected and I had no check engine light. I have since then had the dealership reconnect the rear 02s.
Can someone recommend me a good shop to have this looked at in the northern VA area? I see there is Tony's corvette in MD, is the drive up there worth it?

Can't help you with the tuner recommendation but I can offer a guess on your problem. Before you bought it, the previous owner put a cai on and had the car tuned with this modification.
When you had a dealership reconnect the O2 sensors, they probably flashed your ecu back to factory settings.
Not sure about Northern Va, but I think we have some of the best Corvette shops here in the metro-NY/NJ area.
My personal favorite is East Coast Supercharging. They just installed a state of the art DynoPak dynonometer that allows them to simulate on-road load bearing conditions to get your tuning dead-on, even on a near "stock" Z. They are located in southern NJ, right near Great Adventure...about 40-50 minutes north of the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

However, due to construction problems, there is no way to actually get to this company except by helicopter so I wouldn't bother!
...plus, Don gets a nickel from ECS everytime he puts their name on any forum so I'm trying to ambush Don's new retirement plan
You might try Koons in Tysons.
Joe Malo (if he is still there) is their Vette tech, and he is good.

It's a dime, Mike...so I can call someone that cares...oh wait...I think it costs $0.50 now for a pay phone, if you can find one.
Look at it this way...if they can get some business from a few guys who say they read it on this site, well maybe, just maybe it might give them some incentive to come back as sponsors...I'm trying here, Mike, believe me.
I'm in the area and my tuner's shop went under several months ago, so I'm looking around for a new shop to work with. I'm out by Dulles and there's Curry's and one I just found called EB3 Motorsports that looks promising. I'll post back if either one pans out.

Nice, I actually work in Chantilly. I have used Curry's auto before for my Audi S4. I'm pretty sure they only really tune German or Japanese cars as I have only seen BMW, Audi, and Subaru's there. They were okay but I've had some shady experiences with them. Also, they are very expensive.
For manintenance purposes I take my car to a very good shop in Manassas, but I'm still looking for a shop that can work on the vette specific issues/mods. Let me know if you find anything. If not I will probably end up taking it to Tony's Corvette in MD.

Thanks, I was wondering about that but I wasn't sure if the dealership had the ability to flash back to stock. Good info.
