I just purchased a 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition, with 4,000 miles. Below the window sticker it lists an 'Advanced Tech 2 programming' and intertior and exterior dress up package...It says its from the 'Performance Division'
It comes with a Carbon Fiber K and N intake, speacial red valve covers with the old script that says 'Corvette' a sound deadning divider in hatch, skid plates, additional wire mesh where the fog light go, beefed up suspention, and Neoprene seat covers. The total bill for this option was $2453. I cannot find any info on this, the owner says it is only 1 of 10 cars with it. It is suppose to add 40 HP. I'll try to include the article from The ad...
Is this from GM, or who is the Performance Divition?
Does this hurt or help the value of the car? thanks for any help you can give me. I've never seen this on a Z06
Sounds like something a dealer did. That's not GM. Value is what someone will pay, but for a collector or purist it would hurt the value. Not something they would pay extra for. I had a Z16 was one of the nicest Z's I have had. The Z16 is collectable but not really as much if modified. Mine was modified and still held more value than others.

Yup, dealer add on. Tom Jumper Chevrolet was offering that on select Z06s in 04 for just a measly $2500.00. Funny thing is, I don't think you can modify the stock tune with the Tech 2.
The Tech 2 is the OBD 2 Diagnostic device that the techs use to diagnose codes and problems with the car. It is not a programming tool. You may be able to change a few things with the Tech 2, but I doubt you can do any real performance tuning with it.

First of all, welcome to
Wow, talk about buying a garage queen! An 8 year old car with 4,000 miles.
You know that if the previous owner has not changed all the fluids, you are going to have to do it (all of them). Original tires should be put away (if some day you want to show an original car) or thrown away as these are no longer safe to drive on.
You have, what amounts to a brand new 2004 Z06. Good job! You need to check if all recalls were performed on this car. The 2004 had recalls on suspension washers and fuel tank leak with the connection between the two gas tanks (not all were affected by this).
Now get out there and drive it like it was meant to be driven.
Post up some pictures when you get a chance.

Welcome to the site 6spd. It was nice of the original owner to save it for you
Take Tom's (Yuma) advice.

I agree these cars are a blast to drive once you start to drive it more the rest will be history you will see

I assume you mean don't track the car with those tires correct? I don't see an issue with driving down the highway at 70mph with the original tires. Can you stand on the gas and expect a lot of grip? No not really. Are they going to be a little loud? Yes. But need to be tossed out after 8 years and 4000 miles? I don't think so.
Heck half the vintage cars at shows are running on tires that are 15-20 years old and tire technology today is light years ahead of what they were putting into tires back in the days of Firestone Wide Ovals and the other models that car guys are always looking for at swap meets. Now if you want to run 150 mph and try to pull 1g, sure go get some new meat.
I was/am in the same boat. My car rolled over 4k when I was test driving it. I throw track tires on for HPDE but every other mile on the road I still run the original rubber. They are greasy if you stand on the gas, but there is no need to drive dumb on public roads and no need in my opinion to drop a grand (or more) for new street use tires.
