Factory Radio Code

Does anyone know if there is a radio code set on the radio by the factory. I disconnected my battery the other day and I expected to lose all settings in the radio. The problem is that the "LOC" message is on the radio and I can't do anything. Now I never set a code and this is the first time I have had the battery disconnected for several days.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Dig out your owner's manual. As I remember there is a factory set code untill you change it.

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed.
2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM FM button, write down the next 3 numbers.
4. Call 1-800-537-5140, the menu asks for a division code (Chevrolet is 1) plus a dealer code (from your sticker most likely) then asterisk or an authorization code then asterisk
5. when asked, enter 202107, press the "button" and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.
6. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next two last numbers, press AM FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio.

Just curious, did you buy your Z used? If so, it sounds like the previous owner set a secret code when they had the car. I bought mine new and had the battery changed a few months ago and LOC didn't appear when power was restored. The radio worked fine so mine had no code set into it from the factory. The procedure in the owners manual only covers unlocking the radio when you already know the code.

No, it was bought new. My understanding, at least by the manual, was that there was not a code preset on the radio, that is why I was surprised.
