I just got a 90mm nick williams throttle body. I was going to buy an ls2 intake and get it ported. I was told by a few people that the ls2 ported will perform the same as the fast. Now some people are telling me it would be a step backwards. Do any of you have a ported ls2 intake on?? there is a guy on ls1 tech that ports them and he has a dyno difference from the fast and ls2. check out the site below and let me know what you guys think. i was just wanting to go ls2 because it would save me a lot of cash.
Can't go wrong with a FAST 90 especially if you do some port work to smooth out the rough spots...I find it hard to believe the LS2 intake flows anywhere close to a ported/unported FAST.
My TSP Magic Stick Z06 made 450RWHP with the FAST and some other go-fast goodies on a very conservative tune...and this was with stock 243 Z06 heads!
IMO, a FAST has some inherent advantages over an LS2 (runner cross section, plenum volume, slightly superior radiused entrance to each runner etc.), and a properly modified (ported FAST) has even more. Might a well prepared LS2 give a stock FAST a run for it's money.....perhaps, but compare two ported units and I would put my money on the FAST. Don't forget it was designed with performance in mind right from it's inception, where a stock piece (the LS2/LS6) has alot of other considerations in its original design intent.
I'm familiar with a World Challenge engine builder that tested a World Challenge LS2 motor on his engine dyno and said the LS2 intake manifold caused a number of cylinders to run as lean as 18 to 1 at wot. He used 02 sensors on each individual exhaust runner to test the a/f ratio.
