Why does one have to buy the whole tremec case/carrier... why can't we just buy the gears? Gears in every other vehicle I can think of are cheaper... hell gears in a Porsche are about the same price.

You can just buy the gears. I think there about $350-400 but then you have to have them installed .. another $300-350. I think there is a post on a gear GP that has more info.
Cool. 300-400 is what gears should cost. 300-350 for an install into the carrier is about right... dropping the case and put it back into the car will probably cost another 300-400....
