I had a nail in mine about 4000 miles ago. Got it patched and all still seems to be OK. Make sure they patch it, don't go for a plug. Should cost about $40 because of the size of the tire. Call the tire place before you go and make sure they can handle that size of tire. Good luck!!!

But I heard that patching allows water into the steel belt area, and rust starts.,,,,,,,
So, was advised to plug it........
On a tire that is running at the speeds we do, I can't see leaving a patched or plugged one on the auto......too risky..........

Goodyear, as per a conversation I had with them, recommends the tire to be patched. They said a plugged tire is not a proper repair.

Patch must cost more than a plug.

I had a drywall screw in my rear tire with less than 1000 miles on her... was a bummer. But my local tire guy patched her right up and have had no problems and pressure remains constant with the others.

With my conversation with the tire guy, he said plugging was not proper, had to be patched.

As for the post about rust developing... I wouldnt worry about it... you have an aluminum wheel

HI there,
Yes, a patch is the only option here. You see, the patches we have carry a rubber stem, that goes through the puncture, and the entire patch vulcanizes itself to the tire. Thus, no water penetration.
As for the plug, absolutely NOT. A plug does not vulcanize itself to the carcass, and lowers the speed rating, as a plug will cause more heat to develop within the tire plug area.
This information is facts, from Goodyear, nothing less.
Besttoyou, c4c5hammersgotapatch

1700 miles

Well, didn't need to concern myself with the patch v.s. plug...........ruined the tire........
So, $490.00.......less well off than before lunch today........
At least the wheel was not damaged.........
Lesson learned, been a LONG time since I had a sports car, with low profile tires........
It was impossible for me to tell it was flat while driving..........
So, new rules for me............BEFORE getting in to drive,,,,,,,,,,,,
CHECK all tires.................
Oh, and as an aside for all you guy's...........
You know the funky little weight saving kit???.......for flat repair??
Best get you a couple, I went straight to the dealer BEFORE I went to Goodyear for the ( supposed patch), and they did not have any REFILLS.........
And, as an aside, I asked them to check the rest of the parts departments at the other dealers................ZERO, NADA, ZILCH................NOT ONE..........in the DFW metroplex dealership's stock.
And, to top that off, the "Kit", is a mere $56.00 plus tax.............
Tthis is for basically a white bottle of goop.................
Right about now, I think it is really Barium, cause I feel like I had a lower GI.....................
