H/C c5Z vs. c6Z
Heads, cam and headers, properly tuned, on a C5z versus a C6z...outcome?

You have to be a little more specific. Heads and cam can mean a marginal gain or could be a HUGE gain.
Personally, I believe that a really good combination of heads, headers, cam, cai and a tune will get you there with no problems.

I think you need all of the above and proper gearing and you might be close to a C6Z.

Ditto. C5Zs can be over 500 RWHP with the right parts on the stock bottom end, a stock C6Z wouldn't be a problem with that kind of power.
Gearing would also favor the C5Z, shorter ratios 1st-3rd means easier to launch.
Now, if you're talking a modded C6Z, things will get interesting pretty quick...

I have a H/C car that makes 452 rwhp and 423 rwtq. I also have 3.90 gears as well. Now with 7 cylinders running as they should on my car and #7 with no compression this is how I faired. From a second gear roll at around 40 mph I was pulling ever so slightly. I continued to pull on through 3rd about a bumper. Then when I hit 4th the C6 Z came by and I was at his rear bumper till about 130 when we shut down.

but a Lingenfelter 7 litre says bring it.
maybe a h/c can't but a 7 litre C5Z says any track C6Z. smooth lines versus sharp edges

I have a H/C C5 Z putting out 474RWHP/438RWTQ and I have not played with a C6Z yet
but I have played with a H/C 402ci FRC and I can hold my own until 4th and it's all over.
You can't beat big cubic inches.
The bigger cubic inch motors 402, 408, and the C6 Z 427 generate more torque, and torque wins races

I agree on the torque comments. But, in a race that does not involve top speed, a change of gearing will do (gearing does multiply tq).

PUt in a l92 414 ci motor for not a lot of coin..
that said...the c6 z06 is "the total package"
forgetting about street pulls etc....its just a more evolved product.....but you gotta drop 80 g's...
The nice part too.......is its new....with a 100K mile warranty to boot..
